Cheryl's Witch

As you know, I am a huge fan of Cheryl Kuhn's wonderful assemblages....

I have had this piece of hers for several years....it hangs in the stairway leading up to my bedroom....seems to warn my family of whats lurking up there !!

Recently I noticed that Cheryl has a new crop of witches that she created for this year's Halloween...If you are interested in checking them out...click here!

Confession:
Halloween is not my favorite holiday....in fact I don't really care for it at all...
... (except for the chocolate).

I do not like scary things .... never have...
I'm a fraidycat all on my own...I don't need to be filling my head with horrible thoughts or frightening images....

And besides...you know how I feel about orange!

Boo!

More of Cheryl Kuhn's Art

Cheryl Kuhn, a very sweet person and extremely talented artist is one whose works I collect and have shown on this blog in the past.....Her use of found materials, bits and pieces of poetry and vintage photographs to create these one of a kind amazing assemblages is both a marvel and an inspiration to me....

These two pieces we keep in the lake house and although the one above may have been shown previously....I was able to get some better photographs and wanted to share the details with you....

I recently received an email from a lovely lady named Traude in Vienna who thanked me for introducing her to Cheryl's work.....

Cheryl's work has also inspired Traude to do some creating of her own....I know that Cheryl would just love knowing that!

When I purchased this wonderful piece from Cheryl several years ago....it was at an Earth Angel's event in Warwick, NY....At the time Cheryl told me it was one of her favorites.... and the boat motif fit right in with our lake house...and of course....the poem spoke to me...
You can look at more of Cheryl's amazing assemblages at the Earth Angel's website and you can check out Cheryl's blog here....
Enjoy!

Cheryl Kuhn, Artist Extraodinaire

One of my favorite artists is Cheryl Kuhn of small-stories-studio......She makes the most amazing collages and mixed media pieces.....incorporating found objects and old photographs with bits and pieces of poetry and literature.
.....This piece is one of my favorites....a sweet angel of a baby.....Faith, Hope and Love. Cheryl repurposes an old faucet, door knob and nuts and bolts to create this whimsical corner shelf piece.

There is a rusty bell that swings from a little chain on the bottom.....it reminds me of "It's a Wonderful Life"....."every time a bell rings an angel gets her wings"......

She wears a fabulous crown and silver wings....

Cheryl loves the creamy whites and uses vintage sheet music and text as backgrounds...

This one speaks to my love of birds, eggs and nests.....

How does she think of these things? I think it is the poem that inspires her and then her imagination takes off.....

A "nest" made out of an old metal stand and decorated with feathers.....this little "bird" has wings made from old keys.....a vintage postcard is part of the backdrop...

Two more of Cheryl's pieces are at the lake house and a Halloween themed one comes out each autumn......Two years ago, for Paula's birthday...I gave her one of Cheryl's creations.....a dear little cream colored box trimmed with a little bit of red, found objects and another sweet vintage photo.....I get to visit that piece when I stay in Paula's guest room!

I met Cheryl in person in Warwick at the Earth Angels Event last May and she is sweet and friendly and warm .....her personality is reflected in the charm of her most unique art work....

You can see more of Cheryl's work at the Earth Angels website......Enjoy!
