Vintage French Seed Packets

I bought these old French seed packets on Ebay several years ago...
...and just noticed them again in an old wire rack where they have been quietly residing...

Aren't the graphics and French lettering wonderful?
... and the narrow and small size is sweet....
...so different than those here in the US ...even the vintage ones.

I have been looking at my old things and collections with fresh eyes...
...trying to discern what you might find interesting and blogworthy.

These tiny French seedling pots came from the Brimfield Antique Shows a number of years ago.
I think they are getting harder to find now.

I am pretty excited as I will be visiting Brimfield toward the end of next week with my flea friend, Paula. We go every year in May and always have such a good time together....
hunting for treasure amidst hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of dealers!
The weather can be unpredictable though...sometimes it is freezing...
...this year I think it will be beautiful...
(I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed).

I am looking forward to meeting a few blogging friends in person at Brimfield.

Jackie from Bliss Farm Antiques and Theresa from Time Worn Interiors will both be located in the New England Motel field selling their treasures!

It is always fun to actually meet up with friends who you have gotten to know through bloglandia...
...We already know that we have so much in common and love many of the same things!

Oh and I am quite sure I found my two French wire carriers at Brimfield too.

I think I will feed Mr. Flea hot dogs the rest of the week so I can squirrel a little food money away for Brimfield shopping!

He won't mind a bit (about the hot dogs).

Yes, I'm definitely beginning to get that "oh boy...what will I find ?" feeling!

I need to make a list....

What would you put on your list?

Which blogging friend would you love to meet at Brimfield?

Are YOU going to be there?

Oh yes, Aunt Laura babysat this afternoon for two of my favorite little girls....
...the other one was too fast for me so I didn't get her picture...next time!

Have a great night and a wonderful Thursday!
:)

Love the beautiful seed packets. And your little niece is precious. Wish I were close enough to go to Brimfield...it sounds wonderful. This weekend I'm doing a flea market called A Vintage Gathering. We set up not too far from Barn House. Maybe someday you can come here!

Love those vintage seed packets. I got a bunch of them from one of the participants on the One World One Heart blog party this year. They are vintage, but not French. Lucky you!

Brimfield I hear is wonderful but can be expensive.
Wire baskets, silver plate, another dress form, and a farm table for starters would be on my list.

Dear Laura,
Sorry that I haven't been around. I'm still having computer trouble !! Modern technology is wonderful ..... when it works !!!!
I adore your French seed packets. They remind me of the cigarette cards that we used to collect when I was a child. They had a flower collection.
I have some of the old terracotta pots. They sell them sometimes at one of our nurseries for £1 each. They are vintage ones and I love them. You have reminded me to get some more.
Have a great time at Brimfield and buy LOTS !!
I would like to meet you and Carole and Paula !! It's a shame that I live so far away.
Have a great time and, enjoy your hotdogs, Mr. Flea !!!! XXXX

Dear Laura..
how I'd love to go to Brimfield and going with you would be even better... I think it would be a laugh fest for sure and suspect we'd need a van to bring it all home.. if only we could get Carole too it would be perfect... too bad I don't know Paula.. you'll have to convince her to blog.. haha .. but.. all dreams for me... too far away..

I hope you and Paula have a fabulous time.. I'm sure you will.. and what would I buy... oh boy the list would be too long. but I would so love some of those blue ball jars one day...

Have a great day.. and love those seed packets.. xxx Julie

Those French seed packets are a great find, Laura. Don't you just love that exciting pre-flea market feeling? You didn't tell us what's on your list - I'm curious what would be on it as you seem to have almost every possible collection :) As for me, I'd be looking for old photos and letters I think. And millinery flowers. And wire ware...

Hi Laura, No we won't be at Brimfield, live too far away. But I can just imagine the antiques. We go antiquing every weekend from now till fall with our old vehicles. We try to find new places to go. It is so much fun comming home with our new (old) finds.
I'm going back on friday to a shop we were in last Sun. and looking a a pressback cupboard. Sometimes I need time to ponder. Hope it is still there..

Hi Laura

I love those seed packets, I collect them. They just don't make them like that anymore. Now we get a boring photo...

Your little niece is so sweet!

Love old seed packets, and anything with great graphics.
What a little sweetie you have there. She is a doll!
You would be the one I would want to meet at Brimfield. I have always wanted to go there. I guess I have to stick with the Rose Bowl for now.
Enjoy your weekend, and Happy Mother's Day!

Goodness Laura! I have one of those racks for carrying planters and I never knew what it was for! Now I know (thanks to you) I shall be on the look out for a few of these vintage pots and gaily carry them round the grounds as I happily go a planting.

Have a lovely time at Brimfield. I still live in hope that I may show you some of our special flea markets too...

Oh yes, oh yes, I will be traveling from Texas to Brimfield. I will be traveling with my best friend and two of my grown daughters. It will be our second trip and my daughters' first time. We can hardly wait. We've decided after last year, that we can do with less clothing to leave room for more shopping. I've read your posts on your adventures with Carole from Maynard Farms and I would love to konw more about the shops you would recommend we see while we're there.

Smiles,

Carol
