This morning I woke up to the delicious smell of coffee brewing
and the sound of Mr. Flea strumming his guitar.
I love that.
When I walked into the kitchen
the sun was streaming through the window
and lit up my little silver tree...it was positively glowing.
This tiny tree is for the littlest angels.
I'm not really done with it....
just keep adding shiny bits as I find them about the house.
This beautiful blue beaded butterfly
flew all the way here to me from Italy...
It is one of a pair that my dear friend Walter sent me.
You may remember, that Walter and I met through blogging
and a year ago when we visited Venice...
...he met us and took us to the flea market at la Corte dei Miracoli.
This October, at that very same flea market,
Walter purchased these lovely butterflies just for me.
He knew how much I love blue...
...what he didn't know is
that ever since my Mom's passing...
whenever I see a butterfly I think of her.
I think of all that she taught me
and how much she loved and supported me.
So, thank you Walter!
And thanks to all my other blogger friends
for your support and friendship this year!
:)

Dear Laura,
How pretty your silver tree looks and how it must sparkle.
.....and what a lovely present to have received from your friend Walter............. doubly beautiful with the sentiments behind it.
Christmas was always made special for us by our parents and it always brings back such lovely memories of all of the family members that are now gone but still with us in our hearts and thoughts.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas of togetherness and for a happy, healthy and beautiful 2013.
Much love to you and yours Laura. XXXX
Laura, before I even got to the posting of what you described your silver tree to be, it was an instant thought to as the children of sand Hook Conn. or a tree of children and grand babies, a memorie tree. It's so beautiful wish I had thought of it. I love the teething ring bell, the child's spoon, the teething key? And all the brightness you have added.
It's glow of bright silvers and tarnish bring a thought that there is going to be brightness In a sad outcome. You my friend added a glimps of bright to this somber holiday with all the evil that has played out.
Your vignettes of beauty welcome a Joyeux Noël .
A new year is approaching with all the beauty you inspire for all soulfully take with them after a visit. See you soon, looking forward to another beautiful year with all you share.

Your pictures are absolutely outstanding.
And what a blessed way to wake up - coffee you didn't have to make, and your hubs playing his guitar....sigh....how awesome!
That's pretty neat about the butterfly, too.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Wish you a merry Christmas! :)
Love your little tree. I'll bet it is all glitzy with the morning sun shining on it. Merry Christmas to you and those you love.
Thank you Laura for this past year of showing there is still beauty in the world...even in the smallest and simplest of things and actions.
A very Merry and blessed Christmas to you and yours.

P.S. I'm now off to try and find the book "The Littlest Angel" for my granddaughter. Hadn't thought of it for them even though it was one of my favorites as a child. Thank you for the reminder.
Beautiful tree filled with lovely meaningful ornaments. I love the blue butterfly, it's gorgeous!
Thanks so much for sharing the trips to flea markets, and the shops of your friends. Every time I visit its like visiting the store in person. :)
Belles fêtes de fin d'année ma chère Laura.
Amicalement,
Manon
Sounds like you received a beautiful gift this morning. One that had nothing to do with anything more than life itself. That's a true gift.
Pretty tree! That bottlebrush swan is so neat, I've never seen one before.

I adore your blog Laura and you always make me smile! Your tree is fabulous and I love the tiny teddy bear. I never would have imagined the key was a teething item like the rings.... What fabulous ideas.
I thought if pasting and glittering wooden curtain rod rings from looking at your tree... It is so pretty!
I always love to see your wonderful finds and travels!
Smiles, cyndi
I love the bottlebrush swan ornament, for like butterflies remind you of your mom, swans remind me of my mom.
Dear Laura,
I've really enjoyed your blog this year. So happy we connected. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful photos and treasures.

Warm wishes,
Loi

Laura,
I love that you are still 'adding' to the decor. I do that. Once when someone said "Are you ready for Christmas?" my ex replied "Nope. She just quits when it comes and starts over". Putzing with the decor is a big part of the celebration for me.
I especially like the butterfly story. For me it is a cardinal, my mother's favorite bird. I work on difficult decisions sometimes at the kitchen sink. I always know I've come up with a solution when a cardinal lights on the hedge or the feeder.
Merry Christmas!

Such beautiful photos. Have you ever considered publishing a book? I would love a copy on my coffee table.
*Smiles*
What a great way to decorate a tree the spoon and bell were my favorite. The bell reminded me of the saying every time a bell rings an angel gets it's wings.
Merry Christmas and the best in the New Year.
