This little gold metal box was a recent find at the flea market.
I have a small collection of these small jewelry boxes...
...three or four.
Maybe five now.
Anyway...I love the pale blue silk lining.
It is developing a bit of patina...
(Dad would call it corrosion.)
I wonder whose bureau this used to sit on?
I wonder what treasures it once held...
Drinking in the blue sky, soaking up the sunshine...
The rain is coming in tonight...
...we need the rain.
And I, for one...am hoping there's so much rain
that all the pollen is washed away!
Rain or shine...
wherever you are...
enjoy the rest of your weekend!
LOVE the Box...and the Patina! It is beautiful.
I wonder too, I'm so glad others wonder...and care, bless you
Beautiful box - and just adore the corrosion.....heh heh....
I always feel the same way...
When I bring something "new" home...
I always wonder where it had been before...
who owned it...
why did they give it away...
Lovely post as usual...
Beautiful box!! And I love the picture of the white lilacs against the blue sky. We finally had a beautiful day today and tomorrow could reach 80. Maybe some of our plants will start to bloom!! Rain again on Wed.
Beautiful~ and wash away the allergies... & (I could hear it from here...) God bless you :)
Really nice shape for that boxes!! raining even here :( but i have to go now, flea market in the area!!!
Lovely little treasure!
And the lilac....Oh...!
Just four or five?
Love the little jewel casket with the delicate signs of aging...or as we romantics would say gentle wear as the box was fondled by quivering hands as she opened the lid to gaze upon the gift received from her beloved...
Enjoy your Sunday.
That little box is adorable. The blue silk lining is beautiful. I often wonder the same things as I find these treasures ~ I think that is the reason we junk. We wonder what stories they could tell ;-)
Pretty little box.
Dads, eh? After I'd painted all the tongue and groove in my breakfast room my dad, in all innocence, asked 'that's the undercoat, is it?'
Sweet as can be...I have had many of these journey thru my home & shop...
i just adore old jewelry caskets. the lining of that one is lovely! TFS! :)
A beautiful box and also a great question to ponder "where did it sit, what did it contain"
Have a glorious week
Hi Laura...what a pretty box, reminds me of my Mom...we are waiting for rain too!! x0x0
I love it. I collect these too. It is gorgeous.
Love the box...I also have collected several of these and was once told they were candy boxes, chocolates maybe, and date back to the end of WWll. I'm not sure with the satin liner but it is a nice thought! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful! I can't wait til the blossoms come out of hiding up here in New Hampshire!
That´s a beautiful find!
I wish I had good flea markets in the area. I just love them, and I always find wonderful stuff I can´t help buying!
Great blog, nice meeting you.
You bring back memories. My grandmother had one that was very similar. I will have to poke around my mother's things to see if I still have it.
How many does this make? I'm on #5!! LOL :)
It's a beauty :)
