Pollyanna

I promised to show you the game board to the Pollyanna game...

Pollyanna...The Glad Game was made by Parker Brothers, Inc. and patented in 1915.

Pollyanna was a novel written in 1913 by Eleanor Porter.
The gist of the story is that a young girl named Pollyanna lived her life optimistically....always looking for the good side of things no matter what trouble came her way.

I love the colorful graphics of old board games...

This old Parcheesi game board was made in 1938.

And this?
Well, this is just something I found on the ground.
I do not know what it is from...
Maybe you know?

I love old iron and have a few ideas on how to use it floating around in my head...
What would you do with it?

This week is flying by...
...it is almost the weekend again!

My Mom and Dad will be arriving on Saturday and I am so happy to be able to spend Father's Day with them!
How do you plan to celebrate?

:)

That Pollyanna game is awesome!! I want to find one. It was one of my favorite movies growing up. I just last week that there is a town in Massachusetts (near Boston.. but I can't remember exactly) that has a whole Pollyana day celebration. I thought that was so wonderful! Thanks for sharing this.

Since you were showing us the old Pollyanna game board I was thinking that metal was from another board game. Now I promise I know nothing about this game, but doesn't it kind of look like the piece from a Ouija Board Game?

LOVE the Pollyanna game! I love how all the characters on the board are dressed...really fantastic!!
I don't know what that metal thing-a-majig is, but it sure is pretty! I can imagine using it on a white ironstone platter with a candle in the center of the circle and maybe ivory antique buttons scattered around it. I would love to see what you come up with, though. :)
Enjoy the rest of your evening!

The game boards are so pretty. So colorful. But the metal thing! You just found it on the ground. Dang! I have no idea what to do with it, but it's pretty cool.

What a wonderful board game! A few years ago when I was working in the medical records dept. of a hospital, we had a meeting and I spoke up on something...my manager rolled her eyes and said "Oh here she goes again, the Pollyanna". I had no idea what she was talking about and I felt insulted b/c she said it with such a negative tone. I googled it when I got home and I was flattered and felt sorry for her that she thought it was an insult!

That looks like the outer ring
of a dead bolt? Part of a latch lock?

Interesting enough.. yvonne

The Glad game, I saw the movie, and hear the saying "don't be a pollyana" and I think, why not? Thinking of the good side of things is good, yes? I have never seen the game before!

What wonderful colors on the game board. I would build a pin cushion in the center frame part. No dropping that pin cushion!

Joy.......always

I love the Glad Game! Incredible graphics. Interesting...my daughter is gone and my fil is in South Dakota so I don't think we will do anything to celebrate Father's Day. I mentioned going out to brunch to my husband but he didn't seem to get too excited about the idea...guess it is just a regular day!

Maybe the mystery thing is an old clock front? I imagine I'd either put a mirror in it, or use it as a frame for a picture of Kate. Maybe? ~Mindy
