The grapevines in the back yard were planted by my husband's grandparents 75 years ago.....
His grandfather made wine....and grandmother made grape jelly.....
Last week the grapes were this fresh green color.....they are beginning to turn purple now....
The backyard has several stands of these beautiful mature hydrangeas.....heavy full blossoms bend toward the ground.....
What could be more beautiful or indicative of summer than these lovely white blossoms and these fresh green grapes and leaves?
Occasionally my mother in law and a girlfriend have picked the grapes and made grape jelly...
...it was delicious....but took a lot of time and work!
No one, in recent years has tried to make wine.....Maybe I'll try when I retire!

How beautiful. Our grapes are still green here. Last year they went mouldy but this yera Ben is watching them like a hawk and I think we may get a decent crop.
For my birthday I was given a beautiful white hydrangea just like yours, but once into the ground it has done its litmus paper thing and turned pale pink! It is very pretty nonetheless, and I usually have a head of hydrangea and some other garden flowers as a centrepiece for our table at the moment.

Don't you just love Hydrangeas ? They are up there with my favourites, especially the white ones. I have just taken some photos of my white oak leaf hydrangea 'snow queen'.

Those colors together look so fresh and clean. There's something so romantic about the look of grapes on an arbor even if you don't make wine. Takes one back to a more quiet and peaceful time.
Grapes planted by your grandparents - that is just soooo cool! These pictures are just amazing, and I do think you should try making some wine:)

two of my favorite things in my garden right now. my white hydrangea isn't really white - but it is my favorite "limelight". I think this year will be the first for serious grapes. I envy the history behind yours!
