September Blossoms

Our neighbors were going away for a few days.

They told us to pick tomatoes and squash and help ourselves to the September blossoms left in their garden.

 

...and so we did!

Vintage Black Junkie Dress Form

This tattered old dress form was perfect to dress for Halloween....
...except I don't like scary...



So I got out my black frothy and ruffled slip... ooo la la...

Green Grapes and White Hydrangeas

The grapevines in the back yard were planted by my husband's grandparents 75 years ago.....



His grandfather made wine....and grandmother made grape jelly.....



Last week the grapes were this fresh green color.....they are beginning to turn purple now....



The backyard has several stands of these beautiful mature hydrangeas.....heavy full blossoms bend toward the ground.....



What could be more beautiful or indicative of summer than these lovely white blossoms and these fresh green grapes and leaves?
Occasionally my mother in law and a girlfriend have picked the grapes and made grape jelly...
...it was delicious....but took a lot of time and work!
No one, in recent years has tried to make wine.....Maybe I'll try when I retire!

Calming Thoughts of a Warm Summer's Day

If you want to have an especially lovely afternoon.....visit a special girlfriend...on a beautiful summer day...... who happens to have incredible gardens.....Sit and chat for a while.....let her spoil you with a lovely lunch under the blue sky...... and then take a long nap in a calm and pretty bedroom! Doesn't that sound dreamy? Breathe deeply....winter will be over soon.
