Vintage Millinery Finds and More

Sister Lynn and I have been discovering lots of treasures
in her home as we clean out the corners and nooks and crannies...wrapping and packing everything in sight.

But I did not expect to find boxes of vintage hats
 with lovely millinery flowers!

Now, Lynn loves pretty things and appreciates vintage treasures...especially if they were passed down within our family.  She is not, however, the hoarder collector that I am.

These pretty hats were discovered by a friend of hers many years ago up in the attic of the home she was living in.
The friend gave them all to Lynn, a teacher...
for the "dress up" corner in her classroom.

...those blue velvet leaves are soooo pretty!

Do you remember Marshall Field's?
After all....we are in Chicago here.

Lynn opened the pretty white box
 with the Marshall Field's logo...
...and separated the tissue paper with their gold seal.

...and there it was!
  In all its purple heavenlyness....

This, Lynn said, belonged to Sadie Arlene Auman....
my brother in law's grandmother.

Oh me...oh my!

...such gorgeousness!!!!

Lynn has offered her collection of beautiful vintage hats to me...
...all but this spectacular bonnet...as it was Sadie Arlene's.

I surely don't blame her!

Sigh...

...and then we unearthed this!
Lynn's wedding gown from 1975!
Isn't it lovely?!
She was such a beautiful bride!

Such pretty lace!

This is a surprise post...
...as I did not expect to be back at Paneras so soon!

Until next time!

Sunday Flea Finds

Just a few of the fun finds we found at the flea this weekend...

This old burlap feed sack caught my eye with the name Bouckville, NY ...
... The Madison Bouckville antique show, one of my favorites... is in a few weeks...

But once I saw the 52 stamped on the bottom...
...well, you know...

Love, love, love red books!
Detective stories on the left...
Shakespeare in really soft leather covers on the right!

Three little hats.....$1.50 for all....

A fabulous strawberry ice cream mold...

skeleton keys, tin hearts, drapery tacks...
... and the coolest of the cool...
...the remnants of an old French thermometer!

A sweet Madonna framed souvenir from Florence, Italy

The tiniest little folding Corona typewriter!
Here is some information about it....
...although the patent dates on the back of mine say 1904 and 1910.

Love it!

A book of French postcards, some old lace...
...and a copper sprinkler head

These were my favorite finds though...
An elderly gentleman was selling off his collection of old chocolate molds....

Mimi....The Brocantess and I had a great time sorting through these...
...and there were hundreds of them!
I love the champagne bottles...tiny rabbit...decorated eggs...

And....of course the shoe was my favorite!

Deanna of that wonderful shop Gather was able to find some elephants...the icons of Ivoryton!

There was lots more....
...which I will save for another day.

My Mom was kept another night at the hospital so we are hoping tomorrow is the day she comes home! She is looking pretty good!

...and finally...

There are a bunch of law students up in Buffalo, NY about to take the 2 day BAR exam ...
I wouldn't want to embarrass anyone in particular so I will just say that if anyone is so inclined to pray for stamina, endurance and focus for these students on Tuesday and Wednesday....
...I am sure they would all appreciate it!

...and finally, finally...

Still on the road...
...thought you might enjoy these few pics of vintage hats found in a wonderful antique shop housed in a big old barn up at the lake...

This is the place to be!!!

Be back soon with stories to tell and time to visit!

Until then, take care!

P. S. : As I am quickly approaching my 500th post...(I know....it's unbelievable)
....I have been thinking about my next Give-Back...

Help me out here...
I really want to give back to you...to all my friends who have been so generous with your encouragement, kind comments and support and to those of you who follow along and to those who stop in just to read my ramblings or look at my pictures...
I want to express my sincere gratitude and thanks in the form of a Give Back...

But, what to do?
What would you like to see in the way of a Give Back this time?

I could pull from my stash of treasures....shop just for you at Madison Bouckville...
...or perhaps...
I was thinking of a gift certificate to an online shop...

What do you think?
What would you like to see for this special 500th Post Give Back?

Which shoppes are some of your favorite online stores?

I'm listening!
