Calming Down

Over ten years ago Evi made this Santa especially for me... he holds tiny, meaningful treasures that I asked her to include...(the little doll I bought on our trip to Paris)....Isn't he wonderful?

So, after feeling pretty good about my energizing post on all things Christmasy RED yesterday...
...this morning on my way to work, I heard on the radio that red is indeed energizing but stressful and that greens and blues are calming and the way to go this holiday season...

So here are some more blues and greens...and some more stockings!
They were cut and made from antique pieces of toile by Karen Pfaller.

A few vintage blue ornaments...

Remember these green transferware plates I found at the flea market a few weeks ago?
They cleaned up so nice...

...and a few vintage Christmas postcards in blues and greens...
Do you feel calmer? What colors do you prefer for your holiday decorating?

Warm Holiday Greetings

Holiday Greetings!
As a child one of my favorite traditions on Christmas morning was opening up my Christmas stocking...
Now, it is fun to fill Christmas stockings for my children and husband with all sorts of goodies ...both practical items as well as fun treats.

There are lots of stockings at my house. The black wool ones are one of two pair found in an antique shop specializing in rustic and hunting items up in the Adirondacks a few summers ago...they are complete with garters (Paula has the second pair in her home). The white stockings came from Anthropologie several years ago....love the colors and the stitching.

Love the pointy toe on this stocking made out of ticking...

A funky bottle brush wreath in a great creamy white color...

Another favorite stocking in linen with blue stripe cuff and natural elements as embellishment. Don't you just love the long shape of this one?

Wool mittens and heart with wooden stars on a wire make a sweet and simple garland...

Just a few decorations around our home this season...
It is feeling very wintery here in the Northeast this week!
Warm greetings to all...
