Making Space!

Good morning!
Yesterday, the late afternoon sunshine peeked through my window here at the lake house and lit up the green glass on the windowsill.

...and the blue glass.
:)

I've been busy up in the attic...
It's amazing how much stuff you can stash away over 23 summers!
Yard sales, thrift stores and flea markets...
Oh my!

...here the fading sun streams across the kitchen counter tops
that Dad and I painted gray last summer.
(wasn't that fun?!)

It turns out that I have waayyyy too many treasures to keep.
Mr. Flea calls it junk.
Dad calls it inventory.
One of my neighbors up here...
...who has been greatly amused watching me
drag all this stuff out of the camp...
...called it
semi precious recyclables.
don't you love it? :)

Setting up a new booth at Schoolhouse Treasures...
...hoping to free up some space here at the lake house.

Next week we have a houseful...
...of friends and family...
...hopefully not junk, inventory or
semi precious recyclables!
:)
What are you all up to this weekend?
celebrating the 4th? vacation? gardening? cleaning out?

Let me know and I'll read all about your goings on tonight...
...for now...I'm back to work and off the computer!

Pretty Funny Vintage Pics

On Mother's Day I went across the river to Westchester
to spend the day with my sister Mary Beth and family.
On the way I stopped in Tarrytown at Pretty Funny Vintage...
...another one of my favorite shops.

Stephanie Ross, the owner of this wonderful shop
is a master at arranging her unique and off beat selection
 of antiques and vintage wares.

There is something for everyone here...

I think my Nana Hazel once wore this dress!

You know how I love doll clothes...

This shop is a treat and a great place to visit...
...only sorry both Stephanie and Mary were off that day...
...well, not sorry for them...after all...it was Mother's Day!
I am sure you can tell  by the vibe throughout the store...
...they are fun people to be with!

You may wonder...
...why did it take me so long to post these photos
that I took way back on Mother's Day?
Well...
...it's a pretty long story and pretty funny too...
another time!
:)

You might want to even give them a LIKE on

and their online shop is here:

If you are in the area....stop by.
You'll love it!

What Deanna Found For GATHER

Recently, Deanna found some wonderful things for her shop
 Gather in Ivoryton, CT....
...including items from a Francophile's estate!

She sent me a few snapshots to share...

I love all those brass letters above.
Hmm...I wonder if I could spell out 52 FLEA?

Just look at this amazing French bird cage!

Hard to find...vintage Necco candy jars.
Just think how fun it would be to fill and display these beauties!

Oh my....how glamorous...how French!

A lovely arched stained glass window...
I wonder where this came from?

...and some beautiful vintage cobalt blue Bromo seltzer bottles!

Thanks for the peek Deanna!
...and thanks Libby for taking these great photos to share.

If you see something you can't live without...
give Deanna a call at the shop!

A Peek Inside Paula's Cottage

Here are a few random pics from my visit to Paula's home
 at the beginning of June.
Coincidentally, the week I was there...
an old photo of her home appeared on the cover of this local paper.

She's so clever at creating interesting vignettes...

Love this hairpin iron fence...

It's all those fascinating details....

See that little window way up at top?
That's my bedroom...
at least when I go to visit...
Paula's niece used to call it the "princess" room.
The lacy climbing hydrangea curtain was so romantic!

I bet all those hydrangea buds are in full bloom by now!

I don't know what it's like where you are but here...
...even here...way up in the Adirondack Mountains...
it's over 90 degrees and hot, hot, hot!

Time for a swim in the lake!
Stay cool!
:)
