Moose

Today was an exciting day!

Yes, that is a young moose....
probably a male yearling...
swimming down the middle of the lake.

Although moose sightings are not unusual in the Adirondacks...
...this is the first time I have seen one here.

...and to think
he is swimming just off our little beach!

He turned around here and changed direction as a pontoon boat coming down the lake spooked him.

It was truly a thrill to see this huge and beautiful creature.

Autumn is such a quiet and peaceful time in the mountains.
I am so grateful to be able to be here with Dad and Mr. Flea.

Tomorrow I am headed off to
with lots of goodies for my little booth.
Looking forward to decorating with a fall and Halloween theme.

If you are in the area...
stop by...
and prepare to be scared!
:)

If you give a moose a muffin.... Sorry first thing I thought of...too many readings of it I suppose.
Seeing that is soooo cool. I would have had to follow it to see it exit the water? Did you?

How exciting! I've only ever seen the stuffed moose at the Natural History Museum in London and he is BIG! (Unfortunately I read out loud to the children I was with 'this is a mouse' before looking up and realising I'd mis-read the name and I felt quite foolish!)

What a wonderful country side! And to see and 'catch' an Elch (moose) - how exiting. Beautiful pictures, can feel the atmosphere!

Have a lovely day,

We had a moose swim past our dock on the Muskoka river a couple summers ago. They're a lot more pleasant to see in the water than on the highway at night!

Oh Laura what a treasure! Sometimes, late at night, I hear the owls talking to one another. Of course the coyotes are ever present, and we frequently hear foxes too. I love it, just love it. Thanks for sharing.

We used to see these all the time at our place up in Maine: quite a sight! It's when they cross the road in front of the car that you really sit up and take notice!!!

How exciting, Laura! I would have been thrilled with the sighting, as well. Being a southern gal, I've never seen a moose...although, I do get to see deer every day, here on my farm. ;)

Have a wonderful weekend!

How fun! Perfect photos to enhance my autumn mood, which really doesn't need much help!

I am seeing your blog for the first time...it is beautiful.

I'll be back to study more of your photos when I have more time.

Ahh...such beautiful soothing photos. I don't get much an Autumn where I am. One day I will wake up and the leaves will be gone and it will be cold. Winter tends to show up in San Antonio without Autumn's warning. So seeing such lovely photos takes me to another place and another time :)

How neat is that! We went to Alaska this summer, saw a bear and seals; but I had to see your posting to see a moose.

I remember watching a moose in our neighbor's yard when I was growing up. The house was a one level rambler, and the moose was almost as tall as the house! What an awesome sight to see one swimming across your lake!

Carole said...

What a sight! I never would have thought they could swim. I hope he didn't think he could make it all the way to the other side?

pretty cool Laura!

What a gorgeous scene at the lake, Laura! I wonder what that moose's name is? We have Maurice the moose hanging above our fireplace at the farmhouse.
