Christmas Feast

The Christmas season evokes sweet memories of childhood
and cozy, comfy thoughts...

On Saturday, we ate Thanksgiving leftovers at my sister 's home and immediately after...
we started planning our dinner menu for Christmas!
...this little blue antique book, "Christmas Feast" makes me smile!

About twenty years ago, my mother in law fashioned these hearts from antique fabrics for me ...I still love them.

As you pull out your decorations this season, I hope good memories of simpler days and happy times spent with family come to mind.
I am so grateful for the many cozy, comfy memories of Christmas' past spent with my family.
:)

Homemade gifts are the best, the memories last forever...

Oh Laura, we used to have the best Christmas's when we were young ( we still do now, as well).
But, as you say, they were much simpler times. There wasn't as much money around but we used to wake up to pillow cases filled and overflowing with inexpensive presents, but we loved each and everyone of them.
I love your blue gingham hearts, made all the more beautiful as your Mother-in-law made them. Like me, I know that you will enjoy the run up to Christmas. XXXX

I wonder sometimes if my children will have these same memories... In spite of reducing clutter and limiting gifts to birthdays and christmas, they still seem to have so much more than we did. That leaves little room for the thrill of anticipation and expectation...for they are my best memories of Christmas.
Along with the carols. France has little Christmas music (apart from Petit Papa Noel) so I have a wonderful job bringing out all the English carols and singing along with my 3 possums in the car. We normally don't stop until Easter! Enjoy your beautiful blue hearts

Reading this post brings back wonderful memories of perfect childhood Christmas holidays. Yes they were much simpler times but this has made me remember to be thankful for all the little things that make it special and to try to keep it simple!
The handmade hearts are adorable!

Those blue quilt hearts brings lots of memories back to me, I too would make them from quilts and some old homespun fabrics, over the years I still have some in my stash. The Christmas Feast book looks very interesting. Florence

Laura, you have some of the loveliest things :) I love your pretty hearts that your MIL made for you, they are lovely. I do miss those days, I remember getting these tiny plastic penny dolls and stealing my moms match boxes & dumping them out to use as beds and toilet paper for the pillows and blankets...now they have electronic games where you dress the dolls and they move, what is the fun in that? I would much rather make my own doll clothes and imagine a world for them all on my own...and I wonder why my 13 yr old says I am as old as dirt...look at my memories...but to me they are the best :) Besos, Rose

I always enjoy a good cry when going through my Christmas things. Seems like there is a memory (sweet or sad) attached to almost everything. Love the little doll. She is just precious.

Wonderful...at first I thought, how prescient your MIL was to make these 20 years ago...so "in style" now. But it's actually just great we're now appreciating our homespun roots. Trish
