When I was growing up my family spent a lot of time at the lake house where we still choose not to have a television.....Countless games of Monopoly, Scrabble, PIT, Hearts, Mastermind, Trivial Pursuit, Compatibility, Boggle and even Pretty, Pretty Princess have been played around my grandmother's old oak table and next door at my parent's camp.....
Happy, happy times were had...lots of laughing, lots of chocolate chip cookies and brownies consumed.....
Consequently, in my travels to the thrift store or flea market, whenever I spy an old monopoly game or a deck of cards or a bingo or scrabble game or anagrams or dominoes or dice.......I cannot help myself and usually bring it home with me..... as long as it is a dollar or less of course.....I use some of the game pieces in my art projects and the cards or game boards for display purposes as some of the graphics are really fun and interesting but a lot of this collection is simply stashed........always at the ready to be called into play and have fun with! Do you have a favorite game?

What a cool thing to collect! I bet you find some really neat ones. My favorite game is The Game of Life LOL. I just like the little cars and little people LOL. It's just fun to me.
All the best,
Allison
I too can relate....the summer house at the lake ended just a few short years ago...but I miss it so much- it was like a part of my existence!
AND, you seem much more 'refined' than us...we played ghosts in the graveyard and flashlight tag -
but we did like hearts and spades :)
no tv is a HUGE blessing!!
have a great weekend....
I always liked Sorry and The Game of Life. Since I grew up with a pile of brothers (4, in the same house and 2 in my father's house) I always got the pink 'people' for the back seat of my car!
Wonderful pictures and a very nice story. I´m not such a player, but my daughter -in law LOVES it - she would have much fun with you!!!
And thank you very much, for your sweet comment! The places you could see on my photos are near our house and i walk there every day with my dog Sheila. We meet no other people, only animals.....its really very peaceful there and i love nature...there are so many flowers, birds are singing....
Wish you a wonderful sunday, Hugs Jade

Hello Laura
Thank you for your lovely comments. I read your post with great interest as I have recently started collevting old games. I am really interested in some of the ones your have shown in your photos and will see if I can find some over here. As a child I played a lot of board games and card games too. No computers to distract me as children now have.
Have a lovely weekend

I love games. My favorites are...
Yahtzee, Scrabble, Sorry, and Monopoly. Liking Clue more and more too. Uno is great and so is Boggle. Okay, I guess I just love games.
What amazing things you collect!I recently start to collect old toys too, and I discovered there is a fantastic world around this kind of collecting! Have a nice day
Those old games are so beautiful! When we were young our favourite game of all was mahjong with my grandpa's set, which he had bought in Hong Kong soon after the last war. It needed four people, at least one of whom could remember the simplified scoring system that my family had devised, so we were always glad when my dad was home from the navy to make up our numbers!
I too enjoyed all those you named and consequently when my kids were growing up tried to engage them in the same games. My son never could understand Clue. He would always make his play and name a person or weapon that clearly had been revealed. What great memories....thanks for playing a part in bringing them back!

I just know you could do a black and white perfect. Loved seeing your photos today, so pretty.
I am also drawn to vintage games. Some of them we play. Some I use in my art. Some I display. I love them!
I love collecting old game boards too but I have to admit I don't have a favorite one or have much time to play any, but George and I got hooked on playing poker one winter til he kept winning...ha-ha.

Oh I just love the worn patina these old pieces get. beautiful!

I love the old cards...are the numbered one old Flinch cards? Lots of time playing table games when I was growning up, up at the cottage. Great memories!
Howdy,
Your old game boards are lovely.
I come from a family of 'gamesters' too! We love Mille Bourne - the French card game.
If you ever want to de-stash and purge games, please contact me.
Peace,
LuLu
