Exploring Opportunities

Wrapping up a fun weekend...

Thinking about possibilities...
Exploring opportunities...

Hope the week ahead brings clarity and direction!

Blue Green Ink Bottles

For many years a collection of old blue green ink bottles has sat on a little shelf on the wall in the dining area here at the lake.

I spent a lot of the day today in this room and the adjoining kitchen...
...as fresh mountain air and a lot of outdoor activity keeps my family and friends hungry!

Anyway... I happened to glance up at the shelf as the sunlight was hitting the little bottles and all the different blues and greens looked so pretty...

I keep found bird feathers in the little bottles...
...and everything was looking a bit dusty...
...so I took them all down and rinsed them off ...
...then took them outside to photograph.

Wouldn't they would look sweet with a single blossom in each?

...but time is short before the next meal needs to be fixed...
...so my feathers will have to do!

It's funny how something that tickled my fancy ten years ago ...
...still has the ability to make me smile...

We couldn't have asked for a prettier weekend...
...the sun shone and there was no humidity.
Everyone was out enjoying the lake in the boats, canoe and kayaks.

Badminton, horseshoes, biking and sunning...
...it was a perfect August day.

I love to be surrounded by my family and friends...
...to hear the teenage girls giggle and the young adults debating current events...

I will sleep well tonight...

...I better...
...tomorrow morning will be here soon ...

...and they will all wake up hungry for blueberry pancakes again!

A Little Blue and White

At a local thrift store recently...
... I found a pretty creamer and matching egg cup.

These two pretty pieces weren't perfect...
...they each had a small hairline.

Imperfection doesn't bother me.

In fact...it makes things more personal...
more authentic in a way...

I'm not perfect either.

I love the pretty blue floral decoration against the glossy white china.

There were other larger, matching pieces in the thrift store that day.
...but they were perfect and commanded a higher price.

I am content with my two little slightly less than perfect pieces.
...Just the right size for a small bouquet...

Just sitting here waiting for friends and family to arrive...
The candles are lit...
...the music is playing...
...refreshments are ready...

It is going to be a fun weekend!
Hope it is fun for you too...

Mountain Retreat

The weekend promises to bring sunshine and good times.
Dan's law school friends are packing their cases and coming for a visit to the lake house.

My sister and family will be here too...
...the more the merrier!

This afternoon I sat and relaxed with a book on the deck for a little while...
...sort of the calm before the storm!

...and then late this afternoon Dan took me for a ride in the boat...

I never get tired of looking at our beautiful lake and the mountains beyond...
...and catching glimpses of the cottages and cabins, camps and mountain retreats that surround the area.

...this weekend he will take his friends skiing and tubing...

...but for now...for me...it was a slow and calm, sightseeing tour of the lake.

I hope your weekend brings what you are looking for...
...either lots of fun with family and friends...or lots of relaxation and peace...

...maybe a bit of both!

Lavendar and Lace

Another beautiful day in the mountains...

Today was one of those days where everything seemed to work out just right...
...a day where loose ends were tied up neatly...

Struggles seem to resolve themselves...
...worries were eased...

With the windows wide open and a cool breeze off the lake...
...I just know I will sleep well...

Feeling grateful and so blessed...

I hope things are working out for you in your world too...
...and that the rest of your week brings joy and peace.

Great Grandmother's Heart

This old velvet pin cushion belonged to my great grandmother.
My Mom gave it to me along with some other sewing items this week.

I love that it is heart shaped and that the original pink has turned a lovely mauve brown color.
There is just a remnant of silk pink ribbon at the top.
It has old steel pins still embedded here and there.

I remember my great grandmother Laura and my great grandfather Sidney as well.
He used to play the harmonica and dance around the kitchen when we were very little.

I love that I have this treasure that once belonged to my mother's grandmother...
my Nana's mother...the lovely lady who I was named after.

Internet access is spotty up here at the lake...

This afternoon was lovely...
Rain falling tonight...
...cool and comfortable...
...at peace.

Hope all is well!

500th Post Give-Back Winner

After an 8 1/2 road trip today, which included a flat tire and a torrential rain storm Dan and I arrived at the lake house.

I would tell you all about it but I know you are here to find out who the lucky winner of the 52 FLEA 500th Post Give-Back is...

So, without further delay...

The randomly selected winner is Aimee of The Daily Apron!
Congratulations Aimee!
We will have to see what Aimee's pleasure is and which option she chooses...

Many thanks to all of you for playing along...
I wish I could give back to each and every one of you...
Your comments, friendship and kindness mean so much to me!

I hope the week ahead brings all good things...

...and now...
to bed!
:)
