Bread

After church today, we had some errands to run and Rob wanted to stop by our local bakery to see if they had any Irish soda bread...

Our bakery is very large and is open around the clock. Customers come in, put on gloves and take a large paper sack. Then they walk around the conveyor belts and bins and huge racks of breads and pick the items that they want right off the racks and pop them in their sacks.

Rob always loves to do this. It is a happening, a special event for him.
The place is always full of people picking out their freshly baked goods...

... from the moment we walked in, the delicious smell of warm baked bread filled our senses and made our mouths water.
(We should have had lunch first).

Then, it was time...he had to make decisions....
...should we get the soda bread or maybe we should get this olive loaf or that rosemary bread...

Do you want any muffins or should we get bagels?

What are you making for dinner....should we get an Italian loaf or some French bread?

How about some club rolls for lunch?

...and on and on it goes.
I think it is painful for him...actually painful, to have to decide which mouth watering, delicious baked good will come home with us...

We came home with the Irish soda bread and also bought two warm cinnamon raisin bagels plucked hot off the conveyor belt....
....which we ate in the car...didn't even need butter!
Yummmm!

Yes, all I need is bread...
bread and cheese...
bread and cheese and wine...
bread and cheese and wine and chocolate.

Yes, that's all I need!

...and coffee.

A special Happy Birthday wish to Rob's Mom who is 88 years young today!
I couldn't have a more talented, creative and loving mother in law!

I hope you have a good night's rest and that the week ahead will be peaceful and calm.
Good night!
:)

My most memorable meal was with my soon to be new husband, on a trip to Quebec City, up from southern Maine. We got fresh bread, still warm, from the oven and fresh cheese just delivered to the Farmer's market, and a great bottle of wine. Added to that was fresh seasonal fruit and some pate. Simple is good. I was in a beautiful place with special company, does it get any better than that. Now I am hungry for fresh bread. There goes the diet.

What an amazing place! The smell of freshly baked bread makes my mouth water, I dread to think would I would be like in a place like that. It wouldn't be a pretty sight, lol, that I am sure of. I THINK I am glad that we don't have anything like that over here, it would be just too tempting...........

Don't you think... it reminds me of the postoffice/bakery unit of one of my previous posts. That is great industrial furniture.

I would LOVE a bakery like that -- but I would buy EVERYTHING, so I guess it's good that we don't have one like that around here! :) Now I want some soda bread, though... :)
