Lilacs

Lilacs.....their fragrance is intoxicating and instantly brings sweet memories to mind.....

The outhouse by the barn on my grandparent's farm was surrounded by a huge stand of lilacs....
As kids we loved to hide in there....

My Nana died in the spring and we filled the church with lilacs.....

My only daughter was born May 1st and when we brought her home all the lilacs were in bloom.....

We are so fortunate as we have French lilacs in our yard that were my mothers and also lovely white lilacs that belonged to Rob's grandmother. They are such a beautiful spring gift and I look forward to their blooms each year.......Do lilacs bring back memories for you?

They do actually...my father passed away in May of 93 and we cut bouquets of lilacs for his wake too... which used to grow at George's Grandmothers house. One of my favorite flowers.

It sure does bring back memories of childhood for me. Our yard had many lilac bushes and I used to pick big bouquets of them for my mom. When we moved into our house the first thing I did was plant lilac bushes and a pussy willow tree. The yard became perfect then!!

Pretty post! We love lilacs - our mom's favorite! Lilacs remind us of her mother - our grandmother - her yard was full of lilacs too - white & lavender {we too found it to be the best place to play in & around!!}
