Antique Chocolate Molds
Antique chocolate molds date to the mid 1800's and are collected by many folks, not just chocoholics like myself. I have a number of them, most of which I purchased in the 1970's or 80's.
This butterfly mold I found recently and had never seen one before.....I am not sure of its age but the rust and darkened color of the tin was appealing enough that I didn't care how old it was.
My favorites are the bunnies of course. I will save the Santas until a Christmas post.....
This tall fellow is very heavy.......he opens at the bottom and is hinged at the top. These molds may be used for beeswax and chalk ware as well as chocolate.....you know my preference!
If you have been following my posts you will recognize this little fellow which I picked up at the Webster Flea market last week.
This character is in his formal wear.....perhaps he was on his way to the Easter morning church service!
I love this running bunny giving the little chick a ride on top!

Hey sweetie!
Love your blog! I have never thought about these molds when I see them, but my gosh you sure make them look attractive! Look forward to seeing more...thanks for the cute idea of the name of my Queen Mardi Gras doll! :)
Have a beautiful & creative week! xo...deb

I too love the rusty butterfly one, but the chick on the bunny is really sweet too. Imagine all the lucky children that got to eat the chocolate treats using these wonderful molds!
Very beautiful your collection of molds!!! My favourite is the rabbit in his formal wear! He is so serious! Very lovely!
Love tin molds and especially bunny ones. Yours are great. I have mostly ornament ones for Easter trees. I just found out a traditional 10th yr. anniversary gift is tin. Maybe I'll get George an antique tin mold. Lol....
