I'm pretty excited as tomorrow morning I head to Connecticut to meet up with Paula for a weekend of girlfriend fun! I can't wait to see her charming farmhouse all decorated for Christmas ...she has been working on it all week....I promise to show pictures!
We plan on visiting girlfriend Deanna at her amazing shop Gather in Ivoryton and, of course, dear Carole and her Christmas shop at Maynard Greenhouse! On Saturday we have tickets to the Essex Holiday House Tour! The walking tour includes 7 beautiful historic homes from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Again, I promise to take lots of pictures to share!
Not sure if I ever shared with you that as an undergrad I studied Home Economics....
...all things kitchen related were among my first collections...
I remember one Christmas after being married just a few years...I tied red ribbon around every single kitchen collectible in my country kitchen....every old chopper, rolling pin, piece of tinware and wooden ware...
(Obviously I didn't have enough to occupy my time way back then...)
I also used to be a big baker...breads, muffins, scones, pies and cakes...and lots and lots of cookies at Christmas...
...I plan to do more of that in 2010...
I'm feeling very optimistic that while I am away this weekend, Santa Baby will finally put the lights on the tree for me.
Yes, it's true...I failed at my attempts to motivate Santa Baby to complete the task last weekend!
I must be losing my touch!

Your candy molds are absolutely heartwarming. They remind me of an older neighbor that my sister and I used to love help decorate her home for Christmas. She had everything a kid could imagine including figurines representing "A Christmas Tale" that decorated her fir strewn mantle. She also had so many ornaments sorted by theme and allowed my sister and me to make the pick for the year. But your molds remind me of how at the end of all our decorating, we'd pull out the candy molds and fill them with ice cream for a funny effect. They never looked like anything, but we had so much fun playing with them!

I'd loved to have seen all of those little red ribbons in your kitchen when you were first married, Laura.I love all of your vintage kitchen paraphanalia. Reminds me of my chilhood Christmas's when Mum, aunts and Grandmothers were baking up a storm.

Laura your vintage kitchen 'stuff' is an amazing collection. Really interesting pieces that I remember around my mother and g-mother's kitchens.
I want to bake more this year too, before I forget how. I wonder how I can eat it with out having to find a workout plan.
