Layered Images, Layers of Thoughts
Remember that box of letters from the late 1800's that I found at the flea market in November? Well, I started playing with my new printer (my birthday/Christmas present from Santa Baby and layered a few other photos over one of the old letters...
I am such a novice at photography and my free photoshop program...
but it is fun to be a little creative...and I think they look interesting...kind of pretty...
...what do you think...are you laughing at me?
Perhaps if I print them out...I could use them for backgrounds for other art projects...
...you know all those projects I'm going to get to in 2010!
Any suggestions?
I have a lot to learn and hope to take some art classes and learn new skills this coming year!
...yes, I hope to do that and also I hope to get more organized...to clean out, get rid of stuff ...
...and also...I am determined to live healthier, to start exercising faithfully...to lose 20 pounds...
...and I hope to be a better listener, a better wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend....
Just a few things I'm hoping to accomplish in 2010...
...thought I'd mention that.

Laura,
When you figure out HOW to really do it all let me know! I love your new layering. It looks great! Sounds like Santa Baby did you proud!
Happy New Year!
smiles, alice
I think they are awesome!!!! I am so jealous of them!
Really! They could be used for tons of ideas! ....maybe even a free download to your blogging friends? hee hee?
Love your list of to-do's .... I need to clean out the art studio for sure.... This week! .... and the 20 lbs is more like 50 for me! oh well! Im up for it!
Happy holidays!
Vanessa!
Your work is beautiful! You have an artistic eye and what a great idea to layer beauty on your old letters! Genious!
What a cool printer...I can't even get mine to print anything when I want it too!
I think your list for 2010 is perfect and absolutely doable!
Debbie
They are very nice prints. Go to any paper shop and one would pay a pretty penny for these. Such talent you have. Terri
I love what you did, can you tell me what you did, I would like to try it also. I think Santa Baby was kind to you. Good luck on your list for 2010. XO MARY
They are suitable for framing. I really like how these turned out! If you can duplicate them or enlarge them you could wrap gifts with the paper.
HI Laura
What a great idea to layer these images... The first one is is just gorgeous. I've become quite addicted to scanning everything I can get my hands on and making wrapping paper etc from the results, but this is even better..
I think in 2010 I will be buying myself Photoshop.. it so frustrating wanting to do certain things and not having the tools....I also think I will join you on the losing lbs, exercising etc and de-cluttering... Now if only I had an artist's studio!!! hehe
Have fun this week ... sounds like your in a planning mood!!! xxx Julie
Your new printer can do this? Wow, I'm impressed!
i need to do actually what you are planning. the weight thing and it is always better to improve ourselves, better moms, daughter, wife. but, i badly want to simplify my collection of things. clean them out and put in a sale and keep actually the items i truly love. so,good luck to you and myself and anyone else that wants to jump in clean up. Bestest,Denise
Wowie! I'm on my way back home (love wi-fi in the hotel!) and got caught back up with your posts. Some WONDERFUL stuff goin' on girl! Beautiful images with the vintage letters behind ... doing a GREAT job!
Hugs and have a Happy New Year (even with all those resolutions!)
Betty :)

I think they work really well and would make awesome backgrounds for all sorts of projects. Actually, just looking at them again, they would make rather lovely postcards...
I just adore the beautiful handwriting, such a shame that most of us have lost that skill.
They are beatiful, I like the pale look and colours, I have many years practice of Photoshop but I have never made anythng like this. Now I am inspired to try.... =)
NO ma'am I am NOT laughing at you! I love the idea and my favorite is the one with the lavender:) My daughter just bought photoshop but I don't think it is even out of the box yet! I have to learn to use my embroidery machine before I do anything else! Many of the things on your list are also on mine, you go first... hehe. Love to all from Georgia! Blessings abundant are wished for your new year.
Laura I too love the layering - and Julie's idea of wrapping paper is great too! Before you try to be a better mother/wife/friend ... check that you really need to be. It seems to me that you are just wonderful as you are - maybe the others think so already too. And perhaps just finding the time for your creative outlets and looking after yourself a bit more will have the natural result of you being 'better' all round. When we find time for ourselves, we often give more freely to others, don't you think?
Will wish you a happy new year soon - in the mean time, looking forward to more of your wonderful artwork!!
Ange

You are so creative!! I love the faded quality they have!
I'm in love with your new paper designs, you are going to have so much fun playing with your new Christmas present.
Santa baby brought me a more high tech camera...so that's entertaining me a little too much!
That looks amazing!!! So intriguing!!!!!
m ^..^
I think that I would love to figure out how to use one of those images as my blog background. They are just that good.

Laughing at you...more like in awe...they look fabulous.
Don't know why you think we should laugh at you?! Love the images. You can use them also as wraping paper for presents... my favorites the first picture and the lavande-letter image. Just beautiful!
I'm telling you - you have one of the most eye appealing blogs out there. Your creative eye is amazing. It is always a pleasure to visit.
Blessings to you in the New Year,
Jo
These are just FAB! What a great idea! I always think of trying out my photoshop program but I never seem to find time. This is just what I needed to inspire me.

Rosemary
Beautiful creations. Really! Have fun with that new printer, looks like you are off to a great start. Happy new year ~ Angela
Laura....your so funny.....you are a great friend and listener! about that printer...I'm so impressed. Mine does nothing like that..well that I know of. Most of the time I'm just yelling at the thing....maybe that's my problem:)))
xo,
Carole
OK, if you made these into note cards I'd buy them all.....especially the Lavender one. I write lots of thank you's and note and random cards so these would be lovely! Let me know if that might happen!
Thanks Santa, a gift that keeps on giving!
The layering is absolutely gorgeous and could be used in so many ways. I would never even have thought to do that. Santa baby also brought me a new printer with scanner -- and I've yet to figure it all out. Will be fun to play around with. And yes, for 2010, clearing out, organizing and new crafting are all on my list of definite do's! Wishing you the best for 2010! Blessings Tammy
Hi Laura,
I got a printer for Christmas as well. I thought I was the only person in the world who would be excited about getting a printer for Christmas. I love the combo of the beautiful pictures and letters together. What a great idea! Did you use a scanner to achieve this effect?
Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Melinda
Those are just beautiful!
Okay, those are beautiful! You need to share what kind of printer Santa brought you. I would think this could be done on my computer, but not my printer. Very fun! Your resolutions are right in line with my own. I'm thinking about taking a digital photography class, organize, lose 15 pounds, etc. . .
Happy New Year,
Karen @ Elderberry Street
I forgot, congratulations on the great Somerset article!
