Sylvia was my mother in law's first cousin. She was a pretty young thing with long black curls.
This picture was taken around 1909 by her Uncle Fred, a professional photographer and my mother in law's father (my husband's grandfather)... Cick on images for closer look!
The little child's fan with the peacock feathers and sweet silk tassel belonged to Sylvia and came in a pink silk case. My mother in law says pretty little Sylvia grew up to be a beautiful woman. She lived to be 95 years old and had three husbands!
I guess not all at once.... Hope your evening is relaxing and your Friday brings a good start to the weekend! :) Laura P.S. Don't forget to enter Jackie's giveaway at Bliss Farm Antiques!. She is in Paris with her daughter and is planning on bringing back a souvenir for the winner!
To live content with small means.... To seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion.... To be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich.... To study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly.... To listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart.... To bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never.... In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common.... ...........this is to be my symphony.
Thank you to all the kindred spirits and kind souls who take the time to leave a comment......Your support and encouragement are deeply appreciated.....I read each and every message and as time allows, do my best to reply.
