A Few Favorite Whites

A favorite old white ironstone gravy boat....crazed and with just the right amount of brown...
...(you may have to click on the image to get the full effect!)

An old mourning picture made with seeds...

This celluloid mirror belonged to my great grandmother, Laura Webster Abbott...

A sweet little purse...

Some chippy white paint balusters...

Mother of pearl and sterling teething ring, rattle and baby spoon along with the dish that belonged to my father as a child...

Perhaps I have posted a few of these before....they are some of my favorite whites...so many different shades and textures...

The little round purse is totally adorable. Is it crocheted?

Your Grandmother's mirror and your Father's dish etc. are my favourites, Laura. How lovely that these items have survived.
My Dad died last year aged 91, and I have his christening gown and some other things from his childhood.
I also have a tiny white mourning vase(which would probably have sat next to a mourning picture like the one you have) which I found in the garden (it fell off of the fireplace though and broke into two pieces, but I still have it).
Thanks for showing us these interesting pieces, Laura. XXXX

Laura,
Love your whites this week, the celluloid mirror is awesome. I am very into mourning art right now. They are hard to find around here but I saw some amazing ones in Round Top that where made with human hair. Crazy. Lisa

Hi Laura,
One of my favorite things is that beautiful gravy boat. I just love to see what other people collect. I think the baby things are so sweet and the fact that you have your father's little bowl. What a treasure that must be to you.
Hugs,
June

I would have never thought that picture was made of seeds if I hadn't clicked on it for a better look. Maybe my favorite but that little is tugging at my heart as well!
Happy White Wednesday!

What wonderful treasures you have, with great memories! Love the ironstone...I do love the more 'crackled and brown' pieces too. The balisters are great as well. One of the blogs I recently visiting had put four together to create a lamp base.. Have a wonderful White Wednesday,
Susie
