Red Leather Ledger Books

These red leather books were stacked on a shelf at Anthropologie....I just love the look of them...the faded worn color...the gold numbers...

Out of about nine....I selected four to take home with me...

The ledger paper inside each bound book is filled with information pertaining to a variety of establishments and households...This page had a penciled list of contents. Some of the books noted particulars of the structure itself, its location and information about the property and gardens...

The papers are beautifully marbled...

They come from England....

Now they live with me....
....happily...

Interesting to read and look at....both inside...

and out...

Happy Hunting this Labor Day weekend!

I love old ledger books! I collect them, as well as ledger boxes. They are beautiful and rather fascinating to examine, too! I love the ones you've got here.

Did you say Anthropologie? Every time I go to the one at the Galleria in St. Louis, I want to buy their props and they won't sell them. I'm amazed they parted with those. I'll need to find out your secret. Beautiul find for sure!

I think old ledgers are so interesting to read. All the things that were important enough to that person to record. The handwriting is usually quite elegant too! Sharon
