5 White Pumpkins, 17 Metal Drawers and a Fruitcake

It was beautiful yesterday on our drive up to the lake....

The foliage is changing color and autumn is upon us in all its glory...

We stopped at a farm stand where we found the white pumpkins I love so much...
....you know how I feel about orange!

Not far past the farm stand we saw a sign that said BARN SALE.....
....Miraculously, Rob agreed to make the turn and follow the signs to the sale..

There really wasn't too much there but I spied this old set of metal drawers marked $3 and I knew I had to have it...
I also knew Rob would make "that face"...
So while he was looking over the old John Wayne videos...I gave the elderly gentleman the $3 for the 17 drawers... (so what if one is missing...no problem!)

It all worked out fine after a few negotiations (with Rob)...
As a bonus (?) one of the drawers even came full of rusty nuts and bolts!

My ever so cooperative and agreeable husband also stopped at one of my favorite antique shops along the way and I found this old tin...Smith's White Fruit Cake....how appropriate...

It was a happy fall Saturday and after we arrived at the lake house, I kept up my end of the bargain and we even got a lot of outside work done!

Hope your weekend was good....Getting ready for another week of work!
Take care, Laura :)

I found my set of 33 drawers - one missing as well - a year ago and absolutely love it! It too was filled with rusty odds and ends and it was such fun exploring it all with my 7 year old!
Great find,
xx

You had me at the white pumpkins. And then the "Too Die For" filing cabinets. Only, $3.00. What a steal. Can't wait to see what you are going to fill with.

Can I ask what part of the country you are in? You are always finding the most amazing stuff.

Fabulous metal drawers...can see it on thick industrial wheels for coffee table or with jute or grainsack tufted cushion for "window" seat. Keep the measurements of the space in your pocket for every flea jaunt...I'm sure come up with a great addition. Maybe a sign with an old 5 and 2. Glad you're back! Trish

THREE Dollars! Of course it was necessary to buy them!!! (I really would like to see "that face" of your husband - I'm sure it is similar to my husman's special "hopping-face" ;-))
I like the white pumpkins - I've never seen them in such a WHITE white!!!

You scored again Laura....you must have radar! I bet I know where you bought that tin....though I have no idea what the name of the place is. Maybe you'll be able to use drawers when you set up your studio.

$3, you say? THREE DOLLARS, YOU SAY. *cough* I need to breathe and calm down.... okay. I've seen similar metal drawers, in similar condition, selling for $400-$500 here in San Francisco. Of course, this is where people also pay $50-$75 for an old apple crate or gym basket. Bay Area prices are mad. Mad, I tell you.
