A Few December Anthro Pics

My local Anthropologie store used a very green approach to their window displays this December.
Not my favorite but always interesting and thought provoking!

This industrial looking radiator chair is certainly very cool to look at but not one I would choose to curl up in with a book
especially on this cold and winterly day!
But...it is a piece of art for sure!

Love the clock cases and the pallet treatment on the wall...
...not as fond of the paint cans but they certainly provide
 pops of vivid color!

There's that lace doily headboard in the background again...
... always so much inspiration to be found here.

The after Christmas sales must be amazing now
but I imagine the snow storm is keeping everyone away.
It certainly is keeping me inside!

All this green sort of works for the New Year...
new beginnings...new growth...
...new chances to try again at whatever we are reaching for!

I'm a list maker.
I think it helps me to put things down on paper.

I'm formulating my resolutions,
my "to do" list and my
"needs versus wants" list for the New Year.

I have been adding to my "gratitude" list all year long.
That's my most important list of all.

Did you start yours yet?

Silver Bella Adventure

I am off on an adventure...
...to the famous Silver Bella art retreat!
I am unprepared and unorganized and at this point have been throwing all sorts of bits and bobs into my suitcase.
I really am just a crafter wannabe...
...the girls I will be hob nobbing with at Silver Bella all have serious crafting skills.

I figure that if all else fails, I can just drop the soldering iron, needle & thread and glue stick and grab my camera in order to take pictures and blog about it all!

Oh yes....I also ran over to Anthropologie to try to pick up something cute to wear....
I found these wonderful zinc tags and this lovely handmade paper.

And just look at these silvery crows!
I don't know what they have to do with
Silver Bella...
but I know at least two girlfriends who will love one tied to their Christmas package!
  Shhh....

Anyway.....wish me luck at Silver Bella!
Not sure if I will have time to post
but I will try to put up a few pictures to show you all how it is going!

One thing for sure is that I will be meeting some very sweet and generous girls who have been sending me kind words of encouragement!

A Little Anthro Love

I love a little Anthro to get my imagination going ... to provide some inspiration...and to help me look at things in new ways!

Luckily I have one close by.

Is there anything here that excites you?

Powder Blue Bowls

Aren't these the cutest mini latte bowls?
...or maybe they are little custard cups?

Six of them...all in this pale powdery blue color...

Where did I get them ... you ask?

Why at Anthro of course!
I had a store credit...
...that was burning a hole in my pocketbook!

...and...I found them in the sale section, for only...
...are you ready?

95 cents each!

I love them!
So summery and cool looking!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Old Time Favorites

The pretty pink peony blooming in our back yard...

I was so excited when I sat down with my new issue of Jeanne d'Arc Living magazine...
Two of my favorite things....peonies and enamelware are included in this issue.

I have been collecting vintage enamelware for decades!
In fact, if you have been following along for a while...
...you would know that I have been collecting a lot of things for a long time...

...poor Mr. Flea.

In any case, it has been gratifying to see some of my favorite old treasures recently become popular decorative items...
I don't even have to leave my home or go shopping anywhere other than my attic, shed or basement to get the look!
...which is good given my employment status at the moment!

Another thing I noticed with this issue of JDL is that there is a little more color...
...especially blue!

All the light streaming in and the pale blue cupboard in this picture....mmm... so pretty!

...and then this photo with the touches of red...
...it is just so cheerful!

...lastly...this totally feminine, ethereal looking pillow on top of the rough linen upholstered chair.
LOVE it!

Moving on to a quick stop at Anthropologie the other day....
...aren't these pocket pillows adorned with buttons charming?

This was a linen covered jewelry display board with more pockets...
...too cute!

...and finally...
a question for you...

Is yellow-ware ever going to come back in?
I have a huge collection packed away and just recently I pulled a few little pieces out...

...I think I'm liking it again!

Something Old, Something New, Something Blue

Something blue....

...Here I am at Anthropologie...check out the displays made from recycled dyed blue paper....such a cloudy ethereal effect. There were also very pretty flowers hanging over the register area that upon a closer look revealed themselves to be created from plastic bottles...
...very creative use of recycled materials and looked much prettier than it sounds...
(sorry no photo)

Here are those funnels again...this time holding pink spring like flowers....

OK...
... I tried a few floaty, romantic thingies on...

Here is the something new...

...cute little white spice containers...

ON SALE for only $1.95 each!

This is something old...

...how old? I'm not sure.
I bought it at the flea market last weekend because it was wire with a nice rusty patina and not very expensive.
...not too sure of its origins...

Has anyone seen a wire basket like this?

Now this...I really like.
It is apparently from an old store...
...it hung on the wall or on the counter maybe.
I am not sure what it was used for but the old paper is rather narrow...only about 10 inches across. Is it wrapping paper? for gifts? for fish?
I love the graphics. I wonder what it was used for...what do you think?

Even though skies are cloudy...the apple blossoms on the old trees are gorgeous.

I am grateful for so many happy memories of growing up on my grandparent's farm.
My brother and sisters and I had so much fun climbing all the old fruit and chestnut trees.

Good times...precious memories!

So that is my something old, new and blue for today....
...did you think we were going to a wedding?

Hope Tuesday is not as wet as the last two days!
:)
