I had to really dig this week to come up with a few treasures...
( this tiny silver shovel is a wee 3 inches!)
But first... I found this blue metal parts shelf last fall before we closed up the lake house for the winter....and I found it again last month when we opened the place up.
After this picture was taken...
I cleaned it up and am now using it to hold crafty supplies on the porch...
Here are twelve vintage red tulip embroidered linen napkins...stitched together...
...I don't think they were ever used...
... and a few lace doilies that I found at the local thrift store.
...also, this graceful plated candelabra, a pretty blue Leotric mason jar and a tin funnel.
...clean and starched doily snowflakes
The keys to my heart.
Vintage crochet trims...
Silver Bella?
...an old store price or sign holder?
...maybe I can use it for an old photo or art piece display or to hold a recipe card...
I can never pass up an old velvet box....with satin lining no less..
...not sure what it held originally...
A music holder to be creatively adapted and a vintage magnifying glass...
Loved the graphics on this old cleanser can...
Isn't this the sweetest little butter pat ever?
I had to adopt it.
And here is the Whatsit...
1. Can you guess was it used for?
2. What would you use it for now?
...and those are my slim pickings for this week....
Tomorrow is the big annual rummage sale that we all look forward to each year...
... I wonder what is to be had there this year...
I will report back promptly!
Have a good night...
We are headed out to Beef and Burgundy at the local Inn...
...and tomorrow family and friends start arriving!
:)

WooHoo...I'm the 1st to comment on the whatsit...I think it is an old water bottle for the fridge...Now?...how about a really unique gold fish bowl?? {minus the lid, of course :O} *elaine*
My guess is that it's an old gravy separator! I think it would work great for that, turn the knob down for stock, and up when you get to the fat.
Have a great weekend!
Laura, I also think it is some sort of water bottle.
I think, you came up with quite a few things, all lovely. Well, you know, you had me with the lace!
Have fun this weekend. Wonder how far you got with the preparation?
Lots of hugs, Evi
I really don't have a clue! LOL
But that curvy candle holder is calling my name!
~Happy 4th of July! ~
Sorry I don't know what what is it is!! did I say that?? But love the doiles and the keys...wow you have such amazing things..
Have a wonderful fun filled weekend!
Blessings....

Laura.....my guess? something for the fridge - like a water holder??
good gravy that one is hard!!
your array of collected items are always so interesting to look at!!
love that metal organizer......
an old fridge water/milk or whatever bottle is my guess, too. your other goodies are just that, real Goodies!
Laura,
The whatsit is definitely a water cooler from a old refrigerator. The chrome faucet probably rotates to allow the water to flow out.

Great shelves I need those and the "sail" cleanser of course. As for the glass thing it looks like an oil holder but what do I know.
I think it's a pet waterer...perhaps a gerbil or guinea pig...missing the metal hanger for the side of the cage. It would be perfect to store buttons now!
Happy Fourth.
xoxo

Clueless in NC...Sorry! But I DO LOVE the old metal parts shelf, lace trim and the old store sign holder...COOL!!!
Have a great and SAFE 4th!

Happy summer time...enjoy !!! love Ria...
I think that you did pretty well with those "slim pickins" I am so in love with that blue metal shelf, what a great storage piece! Best of luck at the rummage sale, hope you find lots of goodies!
What goodies! Love the shovel (of course, I'm drawn to anything tiny!). The mystery piece? It reminds me of my husband's container that he uses when he drains the oil out of the car...but I'm sure this isn't that! LOL! ; ) Have yourself a wonderful Fourth weekend.

I don't have a clue as to what that is, but I just love all your finds.
Lolol, you are too funny, you call that SLIM pickings??? When you have a whole heap of crochet trims and doilies and keys and lots of other things???
And I am not even going to hazard a guess at the odd contraption. It is rather interesting though, and I am somewhat keen to find out what it is.
Ooooh wow, i love your linen napkins!! and the butter pat, adorable!!
And the mystery piece, i realy don't have a clue :-).
Have a nice weekend!

would you think the 3" wee shovel is a salt spoon? jan
Those are quite the treasures you've got yourself! I'd love some shelves like that! :)
It looks like a water cooler for the refridgerator..I have seen some similar to that.
Oh I love that bin! That is exactly the kind of thing I couldn't resist snatching up. I hope you'll show us how it looks in it's new location!
those shelves are awesome and would look great in my place.. what are you gonna do with it,
Hello, dearest Laura! Great treasures again! And my favourites are the keys to your heart and this pretty old can with the ship! I hope you will have a WONDERFUL 4th July - have a happy celabration! I also want to thank you for your congratulations on my blog - I am nut sure if you understood that it wasn't REALLY my birthday-party: it was my crazy, square un-birthday (like in the story of "Alice"; my real birthday is in November when it's to cold for an outdoor-party, so I celebrated NOW :o))
Big hugs, sweetheart, yours Traude
You may have thought the pickins were slim but you sure came up with some great pickins! I love the metal shelf. It looks like it has tags on it which makes it extra special.
I'm a fairly new blogger and about two minutes ago I finally put the "follower" gadget on my blog. I would love you to stop by and say hello. You will also notice that I became a follower of your blog a few days ago. Thanks so much and thanks for your very creative blog..it's always a treat to read.
I'm pullin a blank. It's a fun post and
very clever,, yvonne
What great stuff! The wire sign holder made my heart skip a beat. I agree with others that the whatsit is to hold water in the fridge. Today I'd fill it with shells or sea glass for the summer.
great blog, great finds!
it is a water cooler/bottle/etc. for the fridge--i had my eye on a green jadite one for a while, but it was expensivo!
yours is great;>)

I'll take one of each! Have a fun and safe holiday...xo...deb
Oh, I love the slim pickins! I especially love the sign holder...and of course the red velvet box!
Happy Fourth of July Laura =))
That parts shelf is wonderful! Perfect for so many things...thanks for sharing!
I'm droolin' over those keys and doilies. =)
