What A Weekend!

We had a wonderful weekend with family and friends...
It included good food, fun swimming in the lake and paddling on the lake in kayaks...

...and of course I was able to get to a few rummage and yard sales...
Here are a few patriotic red white and blue finds!

A Hotel silver teapot, a silver plate bowl and ...

a lovely silver pitcher...

We were all decked out in our patriotic colors for the annual parade and fireworks.
Up here in this tiny Adirondack town, our Fourth of July parade is a big deal.
Not only do we have the customary homemade floats, junior high school band and kazoo band, the Veterans, the fire engines and ambulance, horses and dogs, clowns and unicyclist ....
...our town proudly rolls out all the snow removal equipment and the snowmobile brigade...
Candy is tossed out to all the children and there is much excitement and good cheer.
This year the weather was perfect for all activities!
We are so blessed!

I hope your weekend was safe and happy and full of fun with friends and family too!
:)

Your kids are adorable...so festive looking!!
Your town's 4th of July parade sounds just like our town's Veteran's Day parade. It's always such a good time!
Happy 4th!!

Great day! Our "big day" is the 17th of May - also red/white/blue! A few yard sales is like the perfect desert after a good meal!

I love hearing about all the 4th of July celebrations, you guys across the pond sure know how to celebrate. And managing to find a few yard sales as well, thats just the icing on the cake! I love your silver finds, especially the pitcher. I have managed to pick up a few pieces recently as well, including a Hotel silver tazza which weighs a ton!

Laura, love all those chubby, rosy cheeks! ;-)

Now, tell me about the ceramic rolling pin! I've seen 2 in the past week and neither one was UNDER $100! So, you guessed it, I did NOT buy either. I like the old, worn wooden ones but if I found a bargain ceramic one...I'm in!
I'm thinking you didn't pay $100+ for yours! So, good dealing!

Hugs, Diane

That is just how our fourth is celebrated here in the little town near where I live Laura. Isn't it the greatest! The parade is a little noisey in the beginning because the firetrucks etc are in the beginning as to not disturb the horses carrying the flags in the middle of the parade.lol
You found some great stuff...as usual. I am crushing on the silver of course.

Hi,greetings from Denmark, where we only have the colours red and white, but since I´m crazy about Lighthouses and Long Island, New England and Old England too, well then I naturally add blue to red and white at my place..

Love your blog and all your great stuff. CU :o)

Laura, what a great set of milk glass salt and pepper shakers. I have never sen that design before. I started collecting these for my mother before she passed away, 10 years ago. I have continued to add to the collection for myself. If you ever think about selling them please contact me. Also your blog is very beautiful and inspiring to me. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like a fabulous weekend. Your family is gorgeous - but you know that already ;-) And we had the house full of young ones playing with a red teapot EXACTLY the replica of the one in that photo. I found mine at a rummage sale too!
