Autumn comes early in the Adirondacks...
The nights are very cool, the leaves have started to turn and folks are closing up their camps for the season.
Dad has taken the boat off the dock, taken down the gutters and put up the boards to protect the house from the winter snow.
Mom and I have been watching chick flicks and doing some button therapy...
...
you know how I love my buttons! We have been making soup and double chocolate brownies.
...
you know how I love my chocolate!Tomorrow we are going to sort all the old pictures that have been stored in boxes in the attic.
That should be fun and will surely bring back lots of wonderful memories.
It is a true luxury to be able to be here right now...
...no pressure and no schedules.
Feeling just a bit sad as poor Mr. Flea and Dan are busy working...
...
and Starla is probably changing her own kitty litter. But the weekend is upon us!
Hope it is a great one!
:)

Your description of your time with your parents as fall is just around the corner sounds wonderful. I am so happy for you that you have the time available to be with them...making brownies and sorting through old photos...making even more cherished memories.

Hello Laura
What a lovely post this is about your Autumn.
I live in New Zealand in the Southern Hemisphere - where we are moving into Spring!!!
I knew it must get difficult with the snow for long periods in Winter, but the mood of your post today explains it very well. When you say your Dad has taken down the gutters, is that because of the weight of the snow?
I've joined your huge band of followers and I would love you to come and visit me!
I'll get out my prettiest teacups and make you very welcome Laura.
Take care
Shane
Je vois que tu es comme moi tu apprécies ces moments de privilège.

you sound so content. I envy the serenity of the mountains, the fresh air and clear-clean skies...*sigh*
Thank you for popping over it made my day. I am sitting here shaking my head and smiling in amazement. Your photos are just so beautiful and your words. I started to feel sad that your summer has ended and we are on the way to those long summer days (4 weeks by the beach from 26 Dec) Charmaine, Melbourne Australia.
Dear Laura, thank you for your beautiful autumn-impressions!

Dear Laura, sounds like the best of times with you and your Mom at the Lake House. I like that, buttons and brownies...
Hi Laura....this is my favorite time of year because of all you have said. The cooking, watching movies, sorting through things. And to have your mom to do it with is the best!
Enjoy!
ahhh, so lovely.
Sounds perfectly delightful!

I worked many moons ago at some camps in the Adirondacks. Such a gorgeous part of the world! Thanks for the great post!
I have always wanted to visit the Adirondacks- sounds so beautiful.
I really like chocolate too , I always eat to much of it when I buy it , the only solution is....not to buy any.......
I love your autumn-pictures , here in holland the weather will be good and sunny tomorrow .......how nice !
Wish you a very nice weekend too, warm greetings from Gea
A few years ago we had a son posted at Ft. Drum, New York and our other son in college in Hanover, NH. We flew to NY, picked up 1st son and his family and drove through the Adirondacks to NH. It was October and raining, but it was beautiful. Due to a late start, most of the trip through the mountains was after dark, but it was wonderful. What I have promised myself, is that before long, my husband and I will take the train from Texas to NY, rent a car and drive to a cabin in the Adirondacks in the fall. Yes, I know. The peepers will have flooded in and we'll have to make reservations early.
You are so blessed to live there.
