Blue Green Ink Bottles

For many years a collection of old blue green ink bottles has sat on a little shelf on the wall in the dining area here at the lake.

I spent a lot of the day today in this room and the adjoining kitchen...
...as fresh mountain air and a lot of outdoor activity keeps my family and friends hungry!

Anyway... I happened to glance up at the shelf as the sunlight was hitting the little bottles and all the different blues and greens looked so pretty...

I keep found bird feathers in the little bottles...
...and everything was looking a bit dusty...
...so I took them all down and rinsed them off ...
...then took them outside to photograph.

Wouldn't they would look sweet with a single blossom in each?

...but time is short before the next meal needs to be fixed...
...so my feathers will have to do!

It's funny how something that tickled my fancy ten years ago ...
...still has the ability to make me smile...

We couldn't have asked for a prettier weekend...
...the sun shone and there was no humidity.
Everyone was out enjoying the lake in the boats, canoe and kayaks.

Badminton, horseshoes, biking and sunning...
...it was a perfect August day.

I love to be surrounded by my family and friends...
...to hear the teenage girls giggle and the young adults debating current events...

I will sleep well tonight...

...I better...
...tomorrow morning will be here soon ...

...and they will all wake up hungry for blueberry pancakes again!

:)

As I shiver in our winter daylight, I dream of the warm summer glow and spending time outdoors. Not long to go for us down under. Love the bottles - very rustic and beautiful. I bet they come with a great story!

These are getting harder and harder to find, Laura. Nice little treasures, and especially the color. I used to have 2 clear ones but have no idea what happened to them in one of our moves....yes, yesterday was beautiful up here in the north!

Hi Laura,
I love old ink bottles but this color is my favorite. Yours are beautiful both empty and with something in them. Yes I could picture a little flower in them all lined up on a window sill in the sun with little asters or other little flowers in them. Beautiful. Have a fun Sunday at your lake...Maura :)

Something so simple but so sweet. You love to line things up just like me. Nothing like a line of yummie color on a piece of draft wood.

I'm loving the bird feathers. Never thought of that, but now I'm thinking of all kinds of uses! Thanks for the suggestion! I'll be picking up every lost birdy feather I see now. LOL Glad y'all have had such a fun time together. Does the heart good to be with family and friends. -- As long as everyone is getting along. ;-)

I wish I could get mine clean though.

Laura, I can easily see how these would still be favorites. It's a wonderful collection and would make sweet vases for individual blooms. Glad you are enjoying your time at the lake. ~ Sarah

I love your blog!
The bottles in this post are fabulous!
I collect sea glass, and on one of my sea glass hunts with my husband, he picked up an antique medicinal bottle from the edge of one of the shores in NJ. The bottle was wonderfully frosted and intact. Sparked an interest in me for bottles!

Happy Blogging!
