White Rambling Roses

The white roses that grow wild in the woods and in the bushes of our yard are blooming...

I love the sweet luminous blossoms and the random twisted vines which seem to surprise us each spring...

...just a snippet for my kitchen window...

...a little bit of pretty, a little sunshine...

My thoughtful friend Nancy from Fete et Fleur sent me an email last week and a link to an Ebay auction of this wonderful number 52 stamp.

Once I saw it... I had to have it!
I wonder what it was used for?
Who needed a fancy 52?
I don't know if I can actually use this copper stamp in my art work...
I don't want to ruin it....
What do you think? Has anyone used similar copper stamps?

It is hard to believe that Memorial Day weekend is coming up...
Pretty soon we will be spending time at the lake house again!

I hope your week is going well!
Take care,
Laura :)

Strangely enough I bought a copper stamp yesterday at a flea market and just tried it out and... it works! It is much more finely engraved than a rubber stamp so you have to apply a lot more pressure but it looks wonderful! I hope yours works just as well. Absolutely love your blog btw! I have added it to my blog list of favorite places to visit - thank you so much for such 'beauty' every day!

Your white roses are lovely! It's been so cold this spring we don't have any roses yet, but soon, very soon. That stamp is a gorgeous piece of vintage craftsmanship!

The pure white of those roses is just gorgeous. I love their simplicity and the simple way you brought them into your home.

It will be fun to see what you do with the stamp.

Your photos are always so beautiful. After looking at your gorgeous stamp and the fact that it's copper so it's sturdy I wonder if you could roll out a thin slab of fimo clay and then bake it and distress it and add it to your artwork. It is a beauty, I would definitely try it out somehow. Good luck, Theresa

The stamp is really neat. I've never seen one like that before. Technically if you stamp it, it will be a 25 though. Still cool!

I'm new to reading your blog but definitely see a theme with the 52 - what's up with that? Maybe I just need to go back to one of the earliest posts.

Have a great day!

Your wild roses are a touch of sunshine. We just had about 2 inches of SNOW in the SLC valley....not much of a spring! I also love it when something comes along like your 52 stamp that goes along with your blog name. So cool!

Hi Laura!
Those roses are lovely in that vintage jar....The copper stamp is amazing!!!!Especially since the FONT is so similar to your logo......How big is it?????? Maryanne;)

French Nanny said...

...but isn't the number 25? Or is it that the picture has got in the wrong way round somehow?

Ange said...

Oh Laura you will have a lovely time using the stamp in your artwork. What matter if it says 25? On display it is 52 and nothing is stopping you from cutting the print and exchanging the numerals! You can use all sorts of inks and thin paints - just wash it gently and quickly after each colour.

This is awesome! I would think you could use ink or paint on this and then clean it off as necessary. It is truly a beautiful piece of art in and of itself. Glad you found it! ~ Sarah
