A Few Good Herbs
I bought a few pots of herbs from a vendor at the flea market a few weeks ago.
This variety of basil does not flower but is very delicate...
...the vendor told me to watch over it carefully.
...its days are numbered.
Now, on the other hand...
...he told me that this variety of lavender will get really tall and that it is very hardy.
I like tall.
I like hardy.
I also bought rosemary whose scent I adore.
This sieve came from the flea market too....
It could be used for drying herbs or...
...if the herbs don't make it...
...I could hang my earrings on it!
Tomorrow is Thursday already!
It is supposed to be a beautiful weekend and you know what that means!
I'm looking forward to one of my favorite annual sales at a nearby school as well as a visit to the flea market...
...and then my beautiful daughter will be celebrating her 24th birthday...
...now that is hard to believe!
Have a great night!
:)

Beautiful herbs and finds. I like rosemary and lavender mixed together... so good! About your daughter's birthday, time flies doesn't it? Know it will be lovely whatever your plans ~ enjoy!
xo
I manage to grow basil like a weed in our garden window for months then poof it just drops over.
summer is here if you buy fresh potted herbs. they are so great. Bestest,Denise
Hi Laura......rosemary is one of my favorites...did you know you can cook with lavender? it's a great substitute for rosemary...
have a great rest of the week! I can't believe it's Thursday already!
Happy Birthday to your daughter! I have tried several times to have rosemary plants, but they just don't like the growing conditions here. I love the smell. Never tried basil.
There's something just so "back to nature" about growing herbs. I love them...besides that they seem to thrive in the Texas heat and this area's hard, black clay.
Oh I love herbs. And how did you do that writing on the silverware??? Too cool!!!
Thank you for sharing!!
Love herbs, rosemary and lavender are my favs..Happy Birthday to your DD
I love the smell of rosemary! Your garden markers are adorable.
love, love, love all of your beautiful photographs!!! thank you so much for sharing! it makes me want to take out my treasures and take pictures...

Happy Birthday to your daughter. Birthdays are always a chance to celebrate life. Give her herbs. She will love them.
Blessings and have fun this weekend
Think I'll add some herbs to my perennial beds this year! Happy birthday to your daughter!
Just planted a new lavender hedge today...tiny plants. Before you know it your lavender will be huge and you'll be poaching peaches in a white wine syrup and adding a sprig of lavender. Happy birthday to your daughter, and of course you as well. XO Trish
great photos of your herbs and silverware labels. I love the wire cloche, too! Lezlee
Nothing like fresh herbs that you've tended yourself (: I LOVE that wire clotch... may I ask where you found it? Also the sieve! I'm just being bitten by the flea market bug... am trying to "get the eye" for the finds. When I see all your wonderful finds, I take heart... maybe I'll find a few beauties too. (: Vicki

Hi Laura, I've been admiring all your latest finds! I was down on LI and picked up some beautiful lavender plants and then came back upstate to snow! But today is sunny and suppose to get really warm by the weekend. I wish there were some flea markets around me! Kim
Growing your own herbs is immensely satisfying and cooking with herbs fresh from the garden is soooo much better than using the dried stuff.
Happy birthday to your daughter!
I have lavender and rosemary growing all over the front of my house...I love the scent. Love those little labels too! Happy Birthday to your daughter, they do grow up fast don't they? Take care, Martha
Hello
They wouldn't have a chance with me! But they are always tempting.
Happy birthday to your daughter, they grow so fast
Blessings
Rebecca

You are not going to get away that easy, how in the world or where in the world did you get the old silverware with the herbs names on it????

hugs
Sisie
Happy Birthday to your daughter! My "baby" just turned 25 last week - amazing!
Please, please let us know where we can find the old silverware markers. I think I remember a blog a couple of months ago about you having learned how to do that, right? Well, make lots and sell them to us!
THERE'S NOTHING THAT COMPARES TO FRESH HERBS TO MAKE A HO-HUM MEAL SING!
I love fresh herbs, especially Basil. What great "spoons" too! What a gorgeous blog, I'll be back for more visits! xo Lidy
Beautiful pictures!! Those inscriptions on the spoon and fork are very interesting, lovely idea to make labels like this.
I think those herbs are great for your kitchen and for cooking, but they also are so decorative; just to look at and enjoy the smell.
