Vintage Lingerie

Beautiful vintage lingerie was my favorite find at the flea market this week...

It was a cold and misty morning but this afternoon the sun came out and the dogwoods and Japanese cherry tree reveled in the warmth of the spring sunshine...

I was reading Corey Amaro's post about her venture to the brocante this morning and it was utterly romantic ...
both her words and images...
...sigh...oh to be in the south of France...

And then my friend Deb from Yaya Chique did a post entitled Find the Beauty in Your Own Backyard...

...and so I did.

Although I will continue to dream of returning to France one day...
...I am content to find the beauty and romance right here at home...
And it isn't hard this time of year...
...what could be more romantic than lingerie and pink blooms?
...and here they are... in my own backyard..

It was a smaller market today but I was still able to find some things to take home with me...
...I am easily satisfied!

I have several wonderful ruffly petticoats...but it wasn't until I read Zita of Mlle Magpie's post on dying vintage slips that I started to notice more lovely lingerie while thrifting...

So, thank you Corey, Deb and Zita!
You have all inspired me today!

I promise to show more thrifting treasure later on this week...

The 400th post Give-Back is set to end on noon, Monday 4/19.
Thank you one and all for your lovely comments and for sharing all your favorite things!
Winner to be announced Monday night.

As a new week begins, I intend to keep looking for the beauty and romance in my own backyard...
...It promises to be a good week...
...especially for Mr. Flea.
:)

Laura,
Your backyard photos are so beautiful with the lovely lingerie pieces flowing in the wind.

These photos of the lovely slips and all the lovely lace remind me of the days when we wore these daily. I can remember my grandmother dressing to the nines each day and her gorgeous slips and camisoles. Oh those were the days!!! But also I can remember her wearing her GIRDLE with nylons....lol!! Maybe those were NOT the days. Thanks for the photos that brought back sweet memories!

Your photos really capture the beauty of Spring and we do sometimes overlook the things we have near in favour of the imagined treats in places far off. Looks like you have a gorgeous backyard, lovely flowering trees. The vintage petticoats are also delightful.

Two of my favorite things ... vintage slips and cherry blossoms. I have a cherry tree right outside the studio and I LOVE when it's in full bloom ... it's like working under a fluffy pink umbrella! As always, beautiful photos Laura ; )

Oh my goodness, I think I've died and gone to heaven. I won't have to go to france to find romance. I would just sit out by that beautiful tree. I adore the silkies in the tree. Can they hang there all summer, and gently blow in the wind like that.

Your header is still my facorite.

Dear Laura,
You certainly didn't have to go far. Your images of romance are beautiful. Our daughter is in Australia/Bali (we are hoping that she will get home O.K. !!) and has just been to Japan, and saw the cherry blossom, which is supposed to be the most beautiful sight. Your's is pretty good though, and with the lingerie blowing in the wind, looks a picture.
I'm just imagining you and Mr. Flea frolicking amongst it all !! haha. XXXX

Your back yard is truly a magical place. Kim and I went brocanting this weekend and came back with silver ware and books, rosaries and antique watches. It is indeed a magical world. I must remind myself to bring my car (family sized boot) and not my husband's work car (teeny tiny capacity) next time ;-)

Hmm - looks like you have an endless number of places to stay in France too (including Toulouse ;-)

Much love
A
