Silvered Bottle Give Away!

Paula and Jennifer of the blog Lulu's Designs and the
 Etsy shop Southern Shop Girl
are offering a Give Away to 52 FLEA readers!

They are going to give away to two lucky winners
 a mercury type...silvered bottle!

photo from their Etsy shop

Paula and Jennifer found these bottles at
Round Top in Texas and purchased them for their shop
from John Norton of Industrial Age Antiques.

These silvered bottles, looking much like mercury glass, are from the 1920's and came out of a now defunct textile mill in the south.
Each one is different...some very shiny and silvery and some with darker and more mottled pewtery tones.

I bought my own silvered bottle
the August before last from John
at the Madison Bouckville Antique Show in New York

The above photo of these wonderful silvery bottles was taken
at Renninger's Extravaganza in Florida a few weeks ago.

This silvered bottle is one of several that is for sale at
  Paula and Jennifer's brand new

These two lovely ladies are a very talented mother/daughter team who have recently opened up their shop
and are filling it with their vintage finds and creative projects.

Jennifer is a designer and Paula is a retired music teacher who has bought and sold antiques for years.

Isn't it so sweet of these two gals to offer a Give Away to
you

my friends here at 52 Flea?

Wouldn't you like to win one of these
 silvered bottles?

To have a chance to be one of the two winners...
all you have to do is leave a comment on this post
 before Friday, February 4th

Be sure to pop over to Southern Shop Girl
and check out their other creations and treasures!

And if you can't wait to see if you are one of the two winners...
they have more silvered bottles listed for sale here!

Tell me what you think!
... and good luck! :)

P.S. :  OK, OK....if you post a link on your sidebar or blog about this you get a 2nd chance to win a super silvery bottle!

What a lovely blog .. i have book-marked it and will return often. And i think i 'linked' it to my "OH SILLY ME" blogsite. I would adore being entered into the drawing to possibly win one of these lovelies. What a dear thing for you to do.

These beautiful silvery bottles remind me of a little poem I wrote many years ago when my grand-daughter was a small child. (She is now grown with a child of her own). We had many, many tea parties .. often celebrating birthdays of friends and other memorable celebrations in their lives.

We lived in a cottage tucked into the woods along a river. There are fairies who dwell there ... still!

The name of our home was 'CROOKED TREE HOLLOW'.

The closing moments of every tea party always had this ritual:

The girls would gather in a circle, hold hands and close their eyes. I would tell them that the fairies always watch and listen to them when they come to a Tea Party. I would point out the big olde 'CROOKED TREE' in a HOLLOW at the edge of the woods where the fairies lived. After each tea party, they would fly back to their 'tree-home' .. and excitedly tell each other of the days events ... of friendships formed ... of laughter ... and of kindnesses they observed.

I would then tell the little girls that many years later they may be sitting with their moms or a friend who had come to the party so many years ago .. or they might even be telling their own children this very story ... and SUDDENLY ... they may catch a glimpse of a silvery light and if they look quickly, they will see a tiny fairie swinging from a thread of their hair. or feel a teeeeeeny tickle or whisper of the wind in their ear .. and they would .. remember! For THIS was the 'memory keeper fairies' returning to remind them of such a happy day of their childhood.

I would then open a beautiful antique glass vial filled with 'silver-dust' gathered from the wings of these very fairies .. and ask them to bow their heads and close their eyes ... and i would sprinkle it gently over their heads as i told them this little poem:

"STAR-DUST OF SILVER ...
MOON-BEAMS OF GOLD ...
SPUN BY THE FAIRIE-FOLK ...
FROM STORIES OFTEN TOLD.

THEY LIVE IN THE 'HOLLOW' ...
OF AN OLDE 'CROOKED TREE ...
FOR THE 'STAR-DUST' OF MEMORIES ...
IS MAGIC . YOU SEE!"

Hello my dear,

I've spent some time catching up here in your beautiful space, from antique letters, pen nibs, silver bottles, and you caring for your mother. I do hope she is better now and that you are all enjoying this extra time together in joy and much laughter.

Do be safe as you travel home.

Hugs!
