Seven Days of Gratitude....A Special Give Back For You

As I prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving
and my birthday with my family
I  have been thinking about all my many blessings.

I am so grateful for the gifts that God has given me
...especially my wonderful family and friends.

And I am so grateful for all of you who visit
52 Flea...
...and for those of you who follow along and take the time to comment and share your thoughts.
With nearly 600 posts written, it has been a joy to be a part of this creative and supportive community.

And so in the spirit of sincere gratitude,
I am having a week long Give-Back which begins today with this white Victorian night dress. For the next week, I will add something from my stash of treasures each day until Friday, November 26th when a winner will be randomly selected from all those who choose to enter.

This Gratitude Give-Back
is open to everyone...
...no matter where you live
in this big and beautiful world of ours.

To enter, simply leave a comment on this post.

I would love it if you shared that which you are most grateful for.

You do not have to be a follower to have a chance to win.

But if you are a follower, I appreciate that...please let me know with a second comment and your name will be entered for a second chance. If you care to put this Gratitude Give Back on your sidebar or post about it then a third chance to win will be yours.

 Aren't the details pretty?
It is not perfect as it is vintage...a tiny hole here or a slight tear there but it is a lovely cotton and can be worn.  I think it is beautiful.

I will be sorting through my piles of vintage goodies to find other interesting and fun things to add to this
Gratitude Give-Back
I am sure there will be some vintage lace, old photos and bits and bobs that you will love added each day of the coming week.

Meanwhile, we are planning Thanksgiving dinner at my sister Mary Beth's home and I am in charge of decorating and setting the table!
(Not to worry, I am also sharing in the cooking!)

Over the years, as our family has grown, we have been celebrating most holidays at my sister's home as it is the cleanest largest and can easily accommodate all of us. (It also has a lot less stuff in it!)

This year, for Mary Beth's combined Christmas and birthday gift my other sister Lynn and I have had the opportunity to buy a set of lovely blue and white dishes complete with serving pieces from my dear friend Evi who is paring down her large collection of  beautiful dishware.

This set of dishes from Germany is special as Evi has been gathering pieces over the last 25 years  Her sister in law and brother have brought her pieces from Germany each time they visited her here in New York. Evi has loved these dishes a long time but now feels it is time to pass them on and is delighted to know that my family will be using them this Thanksgiving and for years to come!

Now my challenge is to decorate the table with a fall theme but not to necessarily use the traditional autumn colors of gold and orange...and so you see me playing here today with faded blue hydrangea, little white pumpkins and one of my old French bread baskets.

Here's a peek at one of the dishes!

Remember to leave a comment (or two or three) here on this post to be entered into the Gratitude Give-Back.

Check back to see what else gets added to the vintage Victorian nightgown....one more surprise each day of this week.

There will be seven prizes in all for the lucky winner!

Good Luck my friends and Thank YOU for all your kindness!

:) Laura

Hi, Laura,
Your pictures always inspire me, and I love blue and white, also. :-)

I'm grateful for friends and family and good health, but am especially grateful for my sons.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

How fun. I love giveaways. I've given a few away myself. I also like the idea of not using the traditional colors of autumn but the blue hues and white pumpkins with the blue dishes. That is why you are in charge of decorating the table.

Love your non-traditional decorations! How lovely. I am so grateful for God's blessing of my husband and daughter. So much in life to be delighted about - we love being together.

Hello Laura,

I think your table decorated with faded blue hydrangeas and white pumpkins will be sensational.
What I'm most grateful for is family, faith and hope. Without hope life would be unbearable. It's been a tough year in many ways, and hope keeps me from despair.

HI Laura ~ I just wanted to say again how inspiring your posts are. You are so unique in what you buy, always with something clever in mind for it's use. I've mentioned before I can't image where you stash all those collections. Anywho...the last time I went to the flea market I bought something I would NEVER have bought before. And when I did, I thought of you!! It was a door knob. I'll post about it sometime and let you know when I do. Well, nuf said. Thanks for sharing your wonderful gift with us all, and congratulations on 600 52 Fleas.

I always think of those loved ones who are no longer with us at Thanksgiving and am grateful for those who are. Holidays have certainly changed without those who are missing but I have 2 new additions to my table with grandchildren and maybe a new son-in-law.

I am also grateful for bloggers who kindly share their thoughts, their ideas and their homes with me for inspiration. Like YOU!

Happy Thanksgiving!

dearest Laura,
love the nightgown. What lovely embroidery!
I think you will create a magical table for Thanksgiving and you don't need orange. I am looking at the faded colors of some of the Hydrangea flowers and think how lovely that would look with all the blue.
It is truly a time to be thankful for so many things; family, good friends, health and the many little things that make our lives easier and more fun.
It is truly time to count our blessings and you are one of them.
Love you lots my friend,

Oooh, those blue and white dishes, they remind me so much of my childhood in Germany, I am convinced my grandmother had the very same pattern for every day use.
Almost 600 posts, and each and every one I have seen since I became a follower has the most amazing photographs.
What am I most grateful for? Gosh, this sounds so corny, but I am so grateful that our family is such a happy one, that my husband of nearly 30 years still tells me he loves me, that we giggle and laugh together so often and so much that we ache and cry, that our boys are doing well in their chosen careers, that we are blessed with two beautiful granddaughters, and that our doggies give us so much happiness. Secondly, that we were incredibly lucky to find our little piece of paradise in France, and thirdly, that I am part of the most amazing blogging community, which makes me smile ( and sometimes cry ) every day. I could give you a huge long list here, but I think I have waffled on enough, lol.

Laura,

Please count me in. I write in a journal every night 5 things I am grateful for. It recounts my day and creates perspective. Some days I am grateful just to be in bed, others it is to hear my daughter's music within this house, or that my mother is alive.

What a beautiful give-away. Thank you.

I'm most grateful for EVERYTHING in life. The big, the small, the good, bad and ugly. All of it is beautiful to me and I am BLESSED.

You don't have to consider this an entry into the giveaway, I would rather someone else wins over me.

I'm not usually a fan of blue in relation to anything kitchen or eating related, but those look to be some lovely, lovely dishes.

Rummet för välbefinnande said...

Ohh, Laura - you are really a kind spirit!

Gratitude is really one of the magic things in life. To feel real and true gratitude is a gift. We have so many things to be grateful for, but I think that - many of them - we take them for granted. As family and friends, being well and so on. Not to forget our fantastic nature.
There are so many things in life that are simply worth the most, and they are for free. And if we can learn to appreciate that, we don´t need to buy happiness.

But, off course I can feel very happy when I buy somethings very special, like old laces but that is happiness in another way *big smile*

I´m a follower and I´m also going to add a link on my blog.

Myself I have had the great pleasure to find the house that I have been dreaming of for a long time, so I´m moving right now = not much time for blogging. But I will check your blog as often as I can!
Take care and I send a lot of gratitude to you, for sharing so many beautiful things and words with us.

And I am SO very grateful for all the men and women who serve in the military to preserve and protect us. God bless America!

I am most grateful for my family, friends, and health. I am grateful for all the small, simple pleasures that come with small town living.

I am also grateful for the creative women who blog and share their homes, shops, food, and lives through their blogs.

The details on the Victorian gown are exquisite. I am grateful to see the beauty in the simple gifts of day to day living -- a shadow of my lace curtain cast across my wall, fall's last rose, another day without pain for our 14 year old cairn terrier, my mother who has alzhiemers recognizing me. I am blessed.

I've been a follower for quite a while...and what I'm most thankful for this year is my little family of three being together. We have so much and yet it's so easy to feel ungrateful. This year, I'm grateful for our relatively peaceful lives and for being together; the years are passing as my son nears adulthood so I know these days are numbered.

What a great theme for a give-away! I'm doing a 600 Minutes of Gratitude Journal, where I write for 10 minutes a day, for 60 days, about what I'm grateful for. It's impossible to let a bad day get me down when I realize how wonderful life is.

Laura Happy Birthday, Happy ThanksGiving, I am thankful for tattered things that I can find love and history in. Restyled and reused is always a eco-best to do for old cast offs.

I am always thankful that God knows my needs and that they are in one way or another met, you see this is most of all what I am grateful and Thankful for.... Nothing else and nothing less.

Love all that you inspire with family and dear friends who decide to as paring-down there needs. As well as the beauty of the dishes passed on to a love one. They truly are beauties that will add GRACE to a thankful table of GIVING!!!

Thank you Laura for adding to my blogging experience with your added beauty!

Sending you a graceful Sunday!
xx

Hi Laura,
Thank you so much for the gift of this beautiful blog and the opportunity to enter your wonderful give-away. I have much to be grateful for even in the midst of a very trying time of double unemployment for myself and my husband. But this week, I'm especially grateful that I have an actual interview coming up! In our town 60,000 people have lost their jobs, so to even get an interview and an opportunity of a job is nothing short of a miracle! I'm already feeling blessed.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

What a wonderfully beautiful giveaway!

There are so many things that I am grateful for, but the biggest one of all is life itself. What a miracle life is! There is so much beauty and wonder all around us, at every moment of our lives. We only have to open our eyes and our hearts and it's just there. Life is such an adventure, with so many amazing twists and turns and with beauty around every corner. I am so thankful for this journey. And I am thankful for those fellow travelers who also delight in the wonderment that each day brings.

Thank you for adding joy to my journey. :)

Dear Laura,
How sweet and thoughtful of you to share your wonderful finds in a give away!
I am grateful for many things, but I would have to say mostly that no one in my immediate family (siblings, parents, children) has had to suffer a terminal illness. I think that would be the hardest thing to endure. I am grateful for my family, my home and my friends. What else do you need?
Love your blog!
