Every Little Thing
I have an ever growing appreciation for the little things...
...and am determined to make each moment count!
Texture background by Kim Klassen...
Spending time with my parents at the lake these last summer days...
...I am so appreciative of this gift of time...
It was a beautiful weekend here in the mountains...
I hope the week ahead brings all good things!

Black and White and Tins All Over
Old metal molds...tin, pewter and zinc... have such an appealing patina.
...some silvery, some dull and tarnished...
...some rusty.
I love them all!
These were found at a thrift store this week...
This old glass container was used to store cheese at one time.
I have it on the counter filled with old glass eggs.
Black and white quail eggs sit in old glass jars ...
... I love how they look with my old tins and molds.
I hope you are having a relaxing and calm weekend.
The weather has been incredibly beautiful...
blue skies, cool evenings...
...the last few days of August at the lake.
All is well.

Room 52
Isn't this old brass hotel key tag amazing?
Do you know what is even more amazing?
I received an email last week from Lizzy at Gone To The Beach
She wrote...
While searching through a stash of my own metal flea market finds, looking for a special chain, I found the perfect 52 Flea "thing"--an old brass hotel key tag from the days when they kept the keys behind the concierge's desk! I'd love to send it to you..
...and so she did!
Thank you Lizzie!
....you knew I would love it and I do!
I am so grateful to be a part of this blogging community of ours...
...I didn't know Lizzie before and hadn't yet discovered her lovely blog or her wonderful Etsy shop
...but like so many other dear blogging friends...
...Lizzie is thoughtful, generous and kind and sent me this old brass tag just because she knew it would make me smile.
:)
It is wonderful to meet people like Lizzie....
...She gets me....understands me... and is a true kindred spirit.
...Lizzy also wrote...
My favorite part of these old tags is how the hole is so worn & crooked, from years of use. And I like the patina, that's why I just wiped it clean but didn't polish it.
Yes....we are soul sisters.
Who knew there were so many of us?
I didn't ....until I started blogging.
Feeling grateful tonight for lots of things...
...and wondering...
how was Room 52 decorated?
...and who stayed there?
If you want a real treat ... hop on over to Lizzy's blog...Gone To The Beach
...and if you want to see some of her really beautiful creations check out her Etsy shop....
Who knows?
Maybe she's got your number!
Good night!

Pink Ruffled Dahlias
Just look at these beautiful pink ruffly dahlias!
Last weekend I stopped at a yard sale and these were the only things worth taking...
...and so I took pictures!
How lucky to be in the right garden...
...at the right time...
...in order to catch these beauties in all their glory!
I am enjoying these pretty pink images of a sunny garden ...
...as we still have gray and cloudy skies overhead...
I hope your week is going well!
Take care,
Laura

Rainy Day Blues and Bubbles
It has been raining hard for two days now!
Our basement flooded and an old box of laundry detergent sitting on the cement floor became water logged ...
... lots of lovely bubbles....
Well...
...to be truthful...
...it produced a big mess...
...but also the inspiration for this post!
Holding on to the last days of summer...
Are you sorry to see it go?
...or are you looking forward to sweater weather?
:)

Breathe Deep, Talk Slow
Breathe deep,
Talk slow...
Give big,
Take less...
Don't count,
Just guess...
Touch kind,
Act fair...
Plan bold,
Try prayer...
Do peace,
Dream far...
Feel loved,
You are!
My friend Pat sent me a sweet note and this little poem was included...
...thought I would share it with you!
Thank you Pat!
I hope you are having a good weekend!

Madison Bouckville 2010
Driving out of the mountains on Wednesday into the farmlands of beautiful upstate New York I was full of anticipation and excitement.
Once again, I was off on my annual trek to Bouckville to hunt for treasure.
Although alone this time and missing my girls...
I was happy to be spending the day in the fields and hoped to meet a few bloggers who had let me know that they were also going to be there.

It was a fabulous day!
My time was limited and there was so much to see!
I dug right in but...
... could hardly scratch the surface...
The Linen Lady from Maryland was there with all her beautiful things...
As usual...I went straight to her dollar table!
For all you doll lovers...Tory-Beth Radwick of Dolls of Chester Springs had a beautiful collection of quality dolls and a lovely display...
I saw so many things!
Charming things...
Rustic things...loved these little birdhouses...
Remarkable things...look at the beautiful long braid on this woman!
...and even some scary things!
Although last year I brought home lots of rusty and utilitarian items ....
this year I seemed to gravitate toward more girly things!
...lots and lots of lace...
odds and ends....bits and bobs...
...my usual dollar aprons and hankies...
...some assemblage and jewelry making treasures...
A sweet little velvet jewelry box..
...old sewing notions...
...ribbons, seam binding and yes, even more buttons!
I loved this Victorian piece with the bird on top...
...was it to hold spoons along the side?
I am sure I will figure out something to do with it! :)
I couldn't resist this lovely cotton slip...
...and it fits!
All I need to do is get out my cowboy boots and jean jacket...
...sigh, so feminine!
I also brought home this pretty tucked and lace underskirt...
Lots of linens...
Four pretty vintage slips in pristine condition...
...and more blue glass...
I was really pleased...
...exhausted but happy tired as I shared my day with my parents back at the lake.
I will try to show more pictures of the rest of my finds this week.
At the end of the day I was able to meet with Gina from Vintage Junk In My Trunk (bottom row below) and her husband Paul. Gina is adorable and Paul a veteran treasure hunter. They spend four days here each year looking and sharing their passion for antiques and junk. What a fun couple...I would have loved to spend more time with them.
I also met and spent a few minutes with Judi (top left) from The 1829 Farmhouse and her husband Dan. They are also a lovely couple and we hope to meet up next year and spend more time hunting together!
I was sorry to miss Sue from Vintage Rescue Squad.
This is her first year at MB and so far she is loving it!
I was really pleased...
...exhausted but happy tired as I shared my day with my parents back at the lake.
I will try to show more pictures of the rest of my finds this week.
Although another day or two shopping here would have been heaven...
...I am grateful to have had this day in the sun... having fun...meeting new friends and doing that thing I do!
