Rainy Day Blues and Bubbles

It has been raining hard for two days now!

Our basement flooded and an old box of laundry detergent sitting on the cement floor became water logged ...

... lots of lovely bubbles....

Well...

...to be truthful...

...it produced a big mess...

...but also the inspiration for this post!

Holding on to the last days of summer...

Are you sorry to see it go?

...or are you looking forward to
sweater weather?

:)

  1. Hope it cleans up quickly. Love your photos. I am going to enjoy every last warm day we have left. I can't believe how fast this year went by. The weather here is crazy windy and rainy. Everything that was tall in my garden in laying down...not pretty. Have a great week.

  3. So sorry to hear of the mess. But it did inspire the beautiful bubbles. There is somehow always a silver lining. I'm trying myself to find one with the bucket under the leaking roof that started this weekend. After all is repaired I shall paint a new color!!

  5. I must say, I'm looking forward to cooling down. It was 108 yesterday and 105 today...been that way for a long time now. It's so hot that no one is having garage or estate sales!! Time for some cool breezes and nice sales!

  11. Hey Laura
Well there will be no sweater weather here soon... just sweating... I think the only time I welcome winter is at the very end of a hot hot summer.. but then we don't have the beauty of snow!!

Love the baubles.. and love the blue!!! What are they?? shoe clips? brooches? fabulous colour!!..

Have a great week and hopefully no more basement floods!! xxx Julie

  25. Oh, yuk. Sorry about your mess...love the inspiration you got from it. I never want summer to end but if we could have a sunny winter I would love that. We just usually get grey skys and rain for Nov. till the end of May.

  26. Love the beautiful bubbles. Reminds me of being a kid and making those great big bubbles we'd dip the wand in and let the breeze blow through for us. Send some of that rain this way please, Laura, it's supposed to be 105 here tomorrow. Really, it's the first of the summer weather, we've been so spoiled here in CA.

I am so looking forward to cozy sweater weather!

  27. How does Mother Nature get it right every year? Right around this time - I start thinking "I'm ready - let the sweater weather take me away from all this craziness, I want to hole up in the house with movies and comfort food" Beautiful photos as always.

  29. Beautiful photos to be inspired by near-disaster! We've just come back from camping in a mini-heatwave, and I am loving the cooler weather now it's broken. But I DO miss the confidence that I'll be able to line-dry five loads of washing in a day...

  38. Here in Southern California, after a beautiful summer of overcast and cool we are having a heat wave. I don’t like the heat...hey I’m in menopause, I’m having a heat wave all the time! Give me sweaters, leggings, boots, hats, rain.. It’s so smoggy today too. I walked this morning and from the hill I was on I could see the whole area covered in brown smog...yuk
