Wednesday - White and Wondering...
I have been collecting these old glass paperweights whenever I come across them at flea markets or yard sales...You know, you usually see them with green felt coming off the bottom and bits of dried flowers or tiny shells inside, all magnified under the glass...
The bottoms are all gone on these and one of these days I am going to use pretty papers and found objects to "restore" them...
I was thinking of old text or bingo cards or watercolor papers and...
... well, the possibilities are endless...
The problem is I can't make a decision on which papers to use...or which tiny treasures to feature under glass and haven't set aside the time to do it...
In the meantime I think they look pretty all piled together here on this zinc stand...maybe that is what is holding me back from getting started!
Do you have any ideas? What would you do with them?
OK, this is what I really wanted to share for White Wednesday....my beautiful creamy white silk Victorian hat. It has a wire frame and beautiful details...very fragile...very feminine.
To see other participants in this week's White Wednesday visit
Kathleen at Faded Charm!
Hope you have a wonderful day!
:) Laura

That is a gorgeous white hat, Laura!
Oh lovely those paperweights......
I think it is lovely with old bingo cards or something like that.....
I love to see the result.
And your head is adorable.
Nice day
Love the paperweights...but my absolute fav is the zinc stand! Love it!
Have a great White Wednesday,
Susie
I have had a box of glass paperweights sitting on my work desk for a year! (It just hasn't come to me what to do with them that might be different--aside from photographs, paper isn't my strong area) What a beautiful white Victorian hat!!
Hello
Wow what a wonderful hat...Laura..
Hope you are fine.. here it is cold.. but no snow.. I miss the snow..
take care Hugs Kerstin
I love the paperweights Laura!! I've made several myself ~ but I must admit, they do look so lovely grouped the way you have them! And the Victorian hat is amazingly beautiful ~ I always love visiting you, xxoo, Dawn
I just sold 2 blank rectangular glass paperweights and two sepia photograph ones - one with a classroom of children - their teacher and an American flag - but this idea - as you always do - is a wonder. Brightens my world....Jennifer
They would be fabulous with lights nestled in them for The Holidays and New Years even....what a pretty display as always!!
Love the display of those glass paperweights, the stand is perfect for them.
I love the glass things and that hat -- spectacular! I think the glass pieces might actually be vintage magnifiers. I have one of those myself. I also wanted to make it into a pretty paperweight, but have not taken the time to think about what to put inside. I saw one made up with tiny seashells and sand, etc. That was cute. Or even a neat old photo would work. Thanks for sharing!
Oh so pretty! My dad had some paperweights like that, wonder what happened to them???
Funny, I have several of those paper weights waiting in the wings for me to do something with them! It's amazing how most of us collect the same things!
TOT
Love your gorgeous hat. Have fun with all those paperweights.
Sandy
You have such an eye for great stuff!!
The paperweights look amazing, and I love the zinc stand.
Rosemary
I love the paperweights piled up like that...make such an impact. Sometimes we don't realize how our bits and pieces look till grouped together. Your hat is amazing!
Laura..........that hat is stunningly delicate - and as far as the paperweights go, if you are able to find them at flea markets, then I say experiment with a few and see how you like it......I would do a holiday theme right now; old sheet music + old santa image + a bit of evergreen.........
have a great day yourself!
The paperweights look lovely just the way they are...although I know that is not how they will stay!! Gorgeous hat....so classic!!
My goodness, Laura - what a wonderful delicate hat! It's just so sad that people don't wear hats anymore ... :-(
I for my part wear hats whenever I can, espeacially to weddings ... Just to realize I'm the only guest wearing one ... Talk about stealing the show ;o)
Concerning the paperweights, I'm just like you - so many choices *aaahhrrgg* I'd just leave them as pretty as they are on the zink stand!
Hugs
Cate
Toujours plein d'inspiration chez toi ma chère Laura!
bonne soirée

Oh my dear, those paper weights are wonderful! You could put old letters and photos underneath, how lovely with ribbon around the base...... hmmmmm. I am sure you will come up with something enchanting!!!
The hat is fabulous too, what will you do with it?
Can't wait to see!!!
Hugs,
Margaret B
I love those glass paper weights, I will have to keep my eye on them. They look so striking on that zinc stand. Florence
They do look great just the way they are but I would just experiment with it. It's only paper and can always be removed. If the paper is precious and one of a kind then copy it.
Don't be a fraidycat!!!lol
Hugs...Carole
I bet they would look neat with old bingo cards in them! Great idea!
LAURA MY DEAR, I KNEW WE COULD BE BEST FRIENDS BECAUSE OF THE ET, NOW I TOO COLLECT THE PAPER WEIGHTS & AM CRAZY ABOUT WHITE, DID I SAY "CRAZY" MY MOTTO: "IF IT'S NOT MOVING, PAINT IT WHITE" SERIOUSLY, IT'S GOING ON MY HEADSTONE, GET IT, NOT MOVING LOL I'M GETTING READY TO PUT UP MY WHITE WEDNESDAY STUFF, CHECK IT OUT :) GIO
What a beautiful hat, Laura....I agree with Cate. It's a shame that we don't wear hats much now. I wear hats at weddings and leave it on all day and night. I eat in it, drink in it and dance in it ! I was looking at my hats today and thought that I might wear one at the weekend.
The paperweights are wonderful. I like them as they are best but I would still like them with script or old music.
I have a question Laura....where do you keep everything ? Have you got lots of outbuildings ?
We have a large loft/attic and it's full, but I have nowhere near as many things as you have,.... just wondered. XXXX
beautiful paperweights, can imagine your problem what to do with it..but in the meantim I enjoy your photos and your blog, thanx for sharing
Laura that hat is an amazing find!!! I like the paperweights just piled up too. With something that pretty...I never get in a hurry to creat with them. Like I have a ton of chandelier crystals that just sit in a jar all sparkly and looking pretty until I finally get around to them.
Hugs,
June
I'm so jealous of your paperweight find! I've been looking everywhere for them even craft stores....No paperweights in CA!!!
I love the way the paperweights look on the stand! Going to have to look for some of those. :)
i too, collect rectangular and round ones. i also have a nice start of paper weight with inside decoration. and i don't how it happened, but recently have some attachment to clear glass plates. i enjoy eating off them and i also loving washing them and seeing the clear sparkle to them. i love clear glass.
Ciao Laura! Your old glass paperweights are very nice! I like them on the zinc stand but I'm sure will find wonderful papers to restore them! I can imagine you wearing this elegant hat! It's gorgeous!!!
Big hugs my friend!
Vale
I can see so many uses for the paperweights... but have never even thought about using them. Thanks for sharing these beauties! AHHHHHH the hat is just dang gorgeous! Love it!
Ahh, once again so lovely. It's hard to decide what to add to those when they look so pretty piled up on the zinc stand. Beauty comes in the simplest form at times :)
Beautiful hat!
I think those paperweights look just beautiful as is. I'm sure you'll do something unexpected and stunning with them, though. Can't wait to see!
Anne
Hello Laura,
the paperweights are soooo nice. They would be realy absolutely beautiful with old papers or so. It's a shame that we dont't wear those gorgeous old hats at present.....
Many hugs
Bine
hi Laura! the hat is so lovely! and i think those paperweights are beautiful just as they are, too! they look great on that metal pedestal with the sparkly leaves!! you have such style!
Great Victorian hat, you dont see them around much anymore. The paperweights look great where you have them!
I love the idea of the glass domes! I have one I bought many years ago. I often put small objects under it to magnify them. It's a constant ever changing parade of miniatures.
Hugs!
Nancy
The paper weights look lovely grouped together! Great collection
