Bread
After church today, we had some errands to run and Rob wanted to stop by our local bakery to see if they had any Irish soda bread...
Our bakery is very large and is open around the clock. Customers come in, put on gloves and take a large paper sack. Then they walk around the conveyor belts and bins and huge racks of breads and pick the items that they want right off the racks and pop them in their sacks.
Rob always loves to do this. It is a happening, a special event for him.
The place is always full of people picking out their freshly baked goods...
... from the moment we walked in, the delicious smell of warm baked bread filled our senses and made our mouths water.
(We should have had lunch first).
Then, it was time...he had to make decisions....
...should we get the soda bread or maybe we should get this olive loaf or that rosemary bread...
Do you want any muffins or should we get bagels?
What are you making for dinner....should we get an Italian loaf or some French bread?
How about some club rolls for lunch?
...and on and on it goes.
I think it is painful for him...actually painful, to have to decide which mouth watering, delicious baked good will come home with us...
We came home with the Irish soda bread and also bought two warm cinnamon raisin bagels plucked hot off the conveyor belt....
....which we ate in the car...didn't even need butter!
Yummmm!
Yes, all I need is bread...
bread and cheese...
bread and cheese and wine...
bread and cheese and wine and chocolate.
Yes, that's all I need!
...and coffee.
A special Happy Birthday wish to Rob's Mom who is 88 years young today!
I couldn't have a more talented, creative and loving mother in law!
I hope you have a good night's rest and that the week ahead will be peaceful and calm.
Good night!
:)

Funnels!
I was just sitting here thinking about those funnels at Anthropologie....(see post here)...
...and I saw a glimpse of an article featuring funnels from the new magazine Flea Market Style ...(just found one at the grocery store...will check it out now)...
...and it suddenly occurred to me that I didn't have to take a trip out to the garage or shed or even go down in the basement...
I've got funnels in the kitchen!
....when you have been collecting for as long as I have...
...you sometimes forget what you have stashed!
There is no telling what I will discover when I start to clean out in a few weeks!!
Stay tuned for a funnel project....
Any suggestions?
:)

Chicken Wire and Funnels
I have been trying to behave myself and seriously... I have been good...
...really good.
I take an alternate route on the way home from work so that I don't have to drive past Anthropologie. I have been eating lunch at my desk.....and have been trying my hardest to stay away from Corey's fabulous online brocante....
So....when I decided that I needed an Anthro fix...you know some creative inspiration....I left my purse in the car and went in to browse with only my little pocket camera in hand.
Look at what I saw......Giant chicken wire!
Pretty cool, right?
Lots of zinc and industrial props....paired with botanicals and pretty soft fabrics ...
Look at these C clamps....
We have tons of old tools and funky junk in the basement, shed and garage...
...the wheels are starting to turn...
Funnels!
Funky decorating with fun funnels...
Have these....can do!
....spring colors and flowers...
I thought this table was fun....
...pretty bedding and lots of soft ruffles...
As I was snapping away with my little Canon....I felt someone's eyes on me...
...yes, security was definitely on to me...
...watching me closely...
I slipped out the door, having completed my covert mission to "steal " some inspiration...
...but just before I did...I spied this delicious springy sweater....Field Flower...
...I better not weaken and go back in with my purse...
...only a little over 2 weeks left of work!
It was a successful endeavor...
...and despite the huge snowstorm that we are currently in the midst of...
...I am feeling a little more optimistic that spring might actually come in another month or two...
...a seed or two of creative inspiration is beginning to sprout...
Hope you are warm and safe and happy!
:) Laura

Roses
Kate and boyfriend came to visit and we all went out to dinner tonight...
It was a relaxed and fun evening...
...She looked happy...
...and that makes me happy!
...everything's coming up roses...
...and it feels good!
We're waiting for the big storm to come through tonight...
...another foot of snow expected...
...another cozy stay at home day? :)
...time will tell!

White Palette
Welcome to White Wednesday!
Several of you inquired about this little advertising painter's palette that appeared in a post a few days ago...
I thought I would show you the reverse side.
Rob's Mom gave it to me and if I remember correctly she said it belonged to her mother....
That's all I know!....click to enlarge for details
Talk about wild women!
One bare shoulder sitting on that furry rug...
...and this little one is even more daring!
...in her matching outfit and sitting on a ruffled tuffet...
...Now this one sitting in her straight back chair doesn't seem to be related...
...possibly not even on the same planet!
Moving along with my whites....
...pearly buttons in icy snow...
white balls of string...
love the textures...
love the sheen!
For more participants in White Wednesday...

Hope your Wednesday is a happy one....
...ours will be white again...in fact snow is expected on and off with sleet and freezing rain right through the rest of the week...
Enough already!
Good night!
:)
