It was a beautiful first day of summer!
Collected sea glass from summer days when I was a young girl...
We used to go to the Jersey shore back in the sixties as my mother's parents had a beach cottage there...
This is a poem I wrote when I was eight...
...my Dad helped me.
The time of the year I like most
Is when we go to the Atlantic coast
We pick up shells and sand on the beach
And listen to the seagulls screech
My family and I have lots of fun
Swimming and playing in the sun
I wish that I could stay all year
But I must return to school right here.
Thanks Dad!Is when we go to the Atlantic coast
We pick up shells and sand on the beach
And listen to the seagulls screech
My family and I have lots of fun
Swimming and playing in the sun
I wish that I could stay all year
But I must return to school right here.
...he just helped a little...
Happy Memories of Summer Fun!
Another summer is just beginning...
... I hope it is a good one for all!

I'm north of Philly so this really caught my attention... love the sea glass, and the poem is too sweet, how special that you still have it-enjoy!
Sweet poem! Beautiful sea glass.
I loved collecting sea glass years ago...almost impossible to find it now!!
I love your sea glass collection...the green is so serene looking.
Hey there..loved those embalming bottles...creepy cool.
I love this post! Simply perfect! ~lulu
Your sea glass is so beautiful! I wish I lived closer to the sea...I would love to collect sea glass and shells. Nature makes the most beautiful things ~
Thanks for sharing - I may just start my collection anyway and it may be a good excuse to finally get my cottage by the sea. :)

Very talented little lady,
8 and writing poetry.
Thoughts of your Dad must have been in your mind as you did this post. Good memories, hold on to them.

Hi Laura,
What treasured memorabilia from your days as a child at the seaside.
When I won Gigi from A Magpie's Fancy's giveaway, she put in, as an extra, some shells ans seaglass (I think that she was living on an island just off of Portland, at the time ?!!) I have it on my mantlepiece in my study and always think of Gigi when I pass it.
Tell me Laura....have you kept absolutely EVERYTHING that you ever bought, wrote, made in your entire life ?!! I find it so amazing that you still have this wonderful poem that you wrote as a child. I still have some things but not nearly as many as you. I wish that I had kept even more things from my past.
Thanks for sharing your poem and your collection of sea glass. XXXX
What a sweet poem made even more special that it was a collaboration between you and your father!
Oh, I love sea glass--the thrill of the hunt and excitement of the find! I'm originally from Maine, and finding those little gems from the sea was always a wonderful past time. ; )

Being from the midwest, I had never heard of sea glass until just a short time ago. Love the colors and the texture. What lovely memories that sweet little poem must bring to mind!
xo,
Debra
I still collect sea glass at the Jersey shore at my parents house! So beautiful and each and every time I spy a piece my heart goes pitter patter! Love your pictures of it! I have fun making jewelry with it!
LOVE,LOVE,LOVE seaglass, something magical about it! Hope your keeping well! x0
The sea glass is so calming! Your poem is so sweet and will always carry that special meaning for you with your dad. It's all good,
Annette
You would be hard pressed to find that amount now unless it's after a storm. If you arrive at the beach at 6:00 after a storm it's too late!
So few things are made with glass anymore...at some point genuine sea glass will be a memory.
The sea glass is so pretty and so are the pics. Nice poem!!!
The poem is lovely, such a beautiful reminder of precious childhood days.
Sea glass is beautiful, and I would love to display some in my home, but I haven't seen any on our beaches for many years.
How wonderful you still have this poem! And I love the glass you've collected in those days. I'm always impressed by your lovely and original collections. (where do you put all this stuff ;o))
Greetings, Annelies
Sea glass is so pretty!!
Love your post, childhood memories are the best
Your sea glass is very pretty and the poem is lovely, especially knowing that it was written by a little girl.

Love the beach glass photos. Would you mind sharing what kind/make of a camera you're using? My camera was recently stolen, and I'm trying to do some research before I replace it. Thanks!

How wonderful that you have a poem from when you were eight that your Dad helped write. That is a precious memory!
Loved your poem! Do you remember where you vacationed to collect your sea glass in NJ?
I love finding Cape May Diamonds and have jars full of them :)
I found your site by accident and instantly fell in love with it. I love Sea Glass so much I have been collecting it since a child on the beautiful British coast and now as an artisan designer I create beautiful jewellery with it. Your site and poetry is truly inspirational. thank you x
