Vintage Handmade Doll Clothes

Isn't this the sweetest little doll dress?
...and it's made out of a hankie!

I am not much of a doll collector...
...but I adore handmade vintage doll clothes...

When my sister Lynn and I were young...
our Nana made many of the clothes for our Barbies...

Back then we didn't appreciate it as much as we do now...
...those homemade clothes didn't come with shoes and accessories like the store bought outfits.

They came with a ton of love though...

In any case...
nowadays whenever I am out thrifting or at the flea market I find myself attracted to the pretty little prints on vintage handmade doll clothes.

I like to hang them on twine with miniature clothespins...
I have some hanging in the laundry room ...
and also as a little valance in front of a window...

But all these here...I found in the last few weeks....
cheery colors...

...wonderful patterns and prints...

...irresistible at 50 cents each.

too cute!

The Key To Self Control

The key to self control...

Do you know what it is?

Because I sure don't.

Time To Buckle Down!

Still playing with Picnik.

I took this photo while in Lucca, Italy...it was just last year around this time.
We had an amazing trip which included a special visit with Vale and Paola from
Les Cotrions!

It has been fun to look through my photos and remember all the beautiful places we saw and all the things we did while on our trip to Italy.

I couldn't resist playing with some of the photos!

...in fact, it is getting hard to resist tinkering with every photo!

However...
it's time to tackle some big projects...

...so I better stop playing and get down to business!

Hope your week is off to a good start!

Picture Fun

Playing with images and different effects, textures and layers.

I took this picture of a rusty old car on my recent thrifting excursion.
The photo effects make this old junker almost look romantic.

Just think of all the good times, exciting journeys and songs sung in this relic!

This wide eyed baby doll had been made into a lamp!

There is so much to learn about photography...
...and it sure is fun to play!

Having a good time...
even though my camera is a simple point and shoot and I lack any know-how with Photoshop...I can still experiment!

I hope that you had fun this weekend and that the week ahead is productive!

Pumpkins Galore!

Our local farm had pumpkins galore!

These, even though orange....poor things... were somehow exciting to see...
...as they brought back happy memories of good times Trick or Treating as a kid.

But, alas....orange.

I loved these big squishy Cinderella gourds...
...even if they are a bit orangy...

Eureka!
White Pumpkins!

Although, three times as expensive as the ones I am sure I will eventually find up in the mountains...I had to bring one or two home with me.

And, these two were perfect...
and white!

A few baby boos...

A trio of little white and pale green gourds...

Another Boo for You!

Mission Accomplished!

Let the fall decorating begin!

I did my little Saturday Vintage Finds post over at The Inspiration Studio...
...found some pretty cool things on Etsy this week!

In Search Of The Great White Pumpkin!

Some of last years white pumpkins...

I haven't been able to find any so far this year...

Therefore....
...today I'm off to search for the elusive white pumpkin!

I think I know where I can find some....
Be back soon!

Artsy Cuffs and Photo Play

My thrifty trip home was lovely...
...yesterday was one of those perfect days to be on the road...
...beautiful clear skies...no traffic....no time table.

I did manage to find a few little things but have not had time to photograph them as when I got home...
...there were dishes to wash, laundry to do, beds to change and...
...the cat box.

And then dinner.

Sigh. You know the drill all too well!

In any case, remember these 3 tin kitchen cutters that I found this summer?

They fit on my wrist like bangels...
OOOoooo.....

My idea is to make them into funky artsy cuffs....
...and wear them to Silver Bella!

Here's my start...
It looks like a little crown...doesn't it?

OK, stop laughing at me.
I'm determined to create something spectacular out of my kitchenware.

Meanwhile, I updated my Picasa software and now have the capability of using Picnik to alter my photos.

The above is my very first altered photo.
I have no idea what I am doing but oh my goodness...the possibilities!

Uh oh....
...now I will never get anything done around here!

Well, the boys finally got somewhat of a supper last night and their shirts ironed.
Starla is happy with clean kitty litter.

Things are getting back to normal.

Thrifting All The Way Home

Tomorrow we head out of the mountains.

The plan is to start early in order to have time to stop at some of my favorite junk shops, thrift stores and antique centers.

I need to be home in time to fix a nice dinner for Mr. Flea.
He misses me.
:)

In addition to antique shops and junk stores, I will be on the lookout for farm stands that might have some white pumpkins for sale...
...although it is a few weeks early.

Hopefully I won't become too distracted treasure hunting!
Evi has recommended a few new places for me to try...

You just never know what you might find!
Isn't it exciting?
:)

Goodbye September lake!
We will be back soon to enjoy the autumn colors...

I hope your week is going well.

Boots

Ah.....my cowboy boots.
Love these boots...so comfy.

Who doesn't love their boots?

I found this great vintage suitcase this week.
Don't you love the shape?

I even love the funky remnant of a luggage tag on the side.

It will make a great craft carrying case...
...perhaps I will bring it to Silver Bella with me in November!

I'm thinking it might have been for shoes....
all these pockets are open at the bottom too.

It's deep enough for a cowboy hat though!

...and so it begins!
The leaves are starting to turn!

Putting on my boots and pulling out my hoodies and warm sweaters...
:) Happy Fall!
