Brown Teddy Bear

I am not sure if I have ever shared this little
 antique teddy bear with you.
He is very ,very old ...
and belonged to the great aunt of a family friend.
I found him in a box with some other old toys
when we helped clean out the attic.

He's a silly bear.
Here he is lounging about in a brown transfer ware gravy boat.

...wearing a bit of tattered lace as an ascot...

And here....posing with a tiny bisque doll.

This time of year,
I like to get out all my antique toys to use in my
 Christmas vignettes.
It's my chance to play!

And speaking of playing...
I am off to Connecticut tomorrow to meet up with the girls for some fun and Christmas shopping at a few of my favorite shops.

I'm bringing my camera and hope to take lots of pictures to share.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Honey Bear

I was making up the bed in Kate's old room here at the lake house this morning as my inlaws will be arriving this week...
There are many charming children's antiques and girly things in this room...
...it is where our three sweet sisters stay when they visit.

Last spring I found this antique doll and then in the summer I found the little old dress that fits her just perfectly ...

...a bit short but she has cute knees...

These three friends were excited as Mr. Flea brought up a package that I had received from Margaret at The French Bear this week. I won her fabulous give-away a few weeks ago.

Let me introduce...

Isn't she darling?
Thank you Margaret for this beautifully made bear and thank you to your granddaughter for pulling my name out of the hat!

Honey Bear is quite happy in her new home with her new friends.

I don't know if it is as hot where you are as it is here on the East coast right now...
...but if it is...
...think cool thoughts!
...or, as I am considering...
go jump in the lake!

:)

If you are so inclined...we are grateful for a few extra prayers tonight as my Mom has her first chemo treatment tomorrow...
Thank you!

Christmas Feast

The Christmas season evokes sweet memories of childhood
and cozy, comfy thoughts...

On Saturday, we ate Thanksgiving leftovers at my sister 's home and immediately after...
we started planning our dinner menu for Christmas!
...this little blue antique book, "Christmas Feast" makes me smile!

About twenty years ago, my mother in law fashioned these hearts from antique fabrics for me ...I still love them.

As you pull out your decorations this season, I hope good memories of simpler days and happy times spent with family come to mind.
I am so grateful for the many cozy, comfy memories of Christmas' past spent with my family.
:)
