Better Than A Desk Job!
I picked up this old burlap feed sack at the flea market a while back...
...don't you just love burlap and anything to do with birds?...
Found an unused pillow in Kate's room, just the right shape, and put it in the feed sack ...
... Presto!
...an instant fresh and current look and a pillow for one of the chairs on the deck...
Being at home has allowed me to do a few things I have just not been able to make time for previously...
...like this old table...
We stripped it many years ago...
...but never finished it...
Monday was a beautiful day...
... I found a can of white primer in the basement and...
...in no time at all...I put a coat of primer on...
...now I have to decide what color to use for the top coat....white? blue? turquoise?
...oh,
...this is the view from lying on my back while painting under the table...
...it was such a pretty day and here I was...
...outside...
...not sitting at my desk in the office.
I guess its not my desk anymore...
It was unfortunate that I lost my job...but at least it ended during the prettiest time of year!
I was visiting Crescendo.com and Jenny Doh had a link to DIY Gift Wrap by Grey Likes Weddings...
I loved all their attractive handmade bows...
... a tutorial for making one of the bows was even included in this post.
I tried it...
And before you know it...
...I had a cute bow made up for the gift I'm bringing to Evi's house tomorrow...
...it's her birthday!
Not too bad for my first attempt!
Enjoying my time this week with a few crafty projects!
I hope it's been a good week so far for you too!
:)
So, What color is the Table going to be.... I know, I have to Wait & See ~ Adorable Bow.....
ReplyDeleteOh enjoy your time!! You seem busy and loving what you have to do! It is funny at work when some one shares they are retired now, I ask so how is it going. Men don't like it and the women are very busy! Men need to know what to do I guess? Glad you are working with your change!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lisa
Your so busy how did you have time to work?
ReplyDeleteTurquoise for the table. As for those flowers aren't they just so fun to make!
That is such a cute bow. Might make a very nice pin, too, if it was the right size. Your combination of colors and fabrics is right on! I say turquoise for the table, too. I can just see it...what a lovely table.

Can't wait to see the table!

ReplyDeleteEnjoy the beautiful weather and time to do so many wonderful things. Your table will be great whatever color you choose -- because it is finally getting a proper makeover. Your gift bow turned out so pretty. And I love the pictures of Starla behind the curtains in the previous post. Have a great day whatever you do! Best wishes, Tammy

Dear Laura,
ReplyDeleteYou are really filling your days and being so industrious. The table is going to be wonderful. I would paint it white or grey but, I know how much you love blue, and blue will look great too.
Evi will love her pesent especially presented with your homemade bow. Enjoy your get-together for Evi's birthday. XXXX
Hello dear Laura, what a lovely post. The table is going to be beautiful, I will choose for the white hihi. Also you made a cool pillow.
ReplyDeleteHow sad that you have lost your job, I hope you will find soon somthing else, or have you now already a new job?
It's what you say, with such beautiful weather it's not a punishment to be home hihi.
Have a nice day.
Warm wishes, Mea
I can see you smiling thru the computer:) Loving life, me too! Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are savoring every moment (and sharing them with us)! After seeing Kim's new turquoise dresser over at Daisy Cottage it is my new favorite color. Perhaps it would look nice on your table? Enjoy this day too!!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow girl, what a wonderful way to spend the day!! I love the sweet bow and the pillow. My vote is for a turquoise top too, can't wait to see what you decide on and how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, Laura! That view from under your table sure beats sitting at a desk.
ReplyDeleteLaura,
ReplyDeleteWill have to check out the link, what a great way to use up scraps. I love those drop leaf tables. If you lived close I'd buy it from you for behind my couch. I'd ask you to paint it white. I know, I know, everyone wants grey or REblue, but not me. I've loved the all white since I saw it in Miss Rose Hicks house (ME July 98) I just saw Shelley's post on color & it's had me thinking about it. Lisa
Beautiful pillow! Love the bow! I think I'll try that too and turn it into a hair bow for my sweet little one. Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Kathleen

ReplyDeleteHello Laura, I'm sorry to hear you lost your job. You're right though..this is a good time of year to loose a job if that's any consolation. You're a brave woman to paint your table. I think it's going to look lovely what ever color you choose to paint it and I'm looking forward to seeing what the end result is. Maybe this is a perfect time to think about photography as a way to make a living? You're VERY good at it..something to think about. I hope you had a lovely day and I hope Friday is a good one too. Take care....Maura
ReplyDeleteI love the burlap too! In fact, I just covered a lumbar pillow in my studio with burlap and have a smaller Planters Peanuts sack I just purchased at an antique store in Seattle that I plan to use as a pillow too...love the table too. :=)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura - this is my first message I'm leaving for your blog; I only discovered it a few months ago. I'm Melanie, BTW - nice to meet you! Anyway, I'm sorry to hear you've lost your job, but what a positive outlook you have. I think it's great that you're keeping busy and doing all these wonderful and creative projects at home. Can't wait to see what color you end up painting the table.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Melanie
