Cherries On Top of the Mountains

We bought the most delicious cherries at the market....

Inspiration! I will bake a cherry pie....

Out came all my vintage baking utensils....

Out came my camera....

Out came my husband....saying "those cherries are too good to put in a pie!"

The men are off to hike one of the high peaks....

The girls will stay back today....eat cherries, chat and sit in the sun.....
To bake or not to bake? That is the question of the day!

  6. I guess I'm spoiled by all the ripe cherries we can pick in May, but in my opinion you can bake with these ones, as they came from the market! We eat them warm from the trees, and bake with them once the heat of the sun has gone off them.

I sound impossibly smug, don't I? But I am grateful for the blessings of where we now live. Enjoy yours any and every way you can, because at least you can still get them! It will be another 10 months before we have ours again...

  10. Have you ever looked to see what people do with their cherry stones ? it's really interesting....some make a little pile. some make a circle around their plate, some have a few piles and so on and so on....you watch next time there are a few of you and you're eating cherries...lovely post Laura.Did you like your award ? 11. I'd really be impressed if you'd make a cherry pie, but I think Rob's right they're just too good. Maybe hot cherry sauce over vanilla ice cream would be easier!!!

  12. Love the cherries but especially your vintage kitchen utensils. When my daughters were younger and I would drag them to antique shows, I told them to think of something they would like to collect. If they had something to hunt for then they would have fun, too (in theory!) One of them began a collection of old kitchen utensils. She has long since lost interest, but we still have a few around the house! Great memories, too.

  15. "Can you bake a cherry pie, Laura girl...Laura girl?" When I read this post, this odd old song floated into my brain...the name in the song wasn't Laura, but on a Wednesday morning I think I'm allowed to take liberties with the lyrics! Your vintage kitchenware collection is fabulous...those things have been a weakness of mine since I started collecting "stuff" many moons ago! Happy Wednesday *elaine*
