Pink Peonies

My Mom's pretty pink peonies...
...next door, here at the lake.
She loved these...and so do I.
Mom was very talented at flower arranging
and used to enjoy fixing up bouquets
from her garden to set about the house.
Dad says there wasn't a flower that she didn't love.

Here it is July and there are still some buds yet to bloom.

So pretty!

We have been busy here at the lake with lots of company...
...both friends and family.
This weekend we will be celebrating Independence Day
with a flea market, picnic, parade and fireworks.
There will be 13 of us this year and it is always a lot of fun.

Wishing you happy summer days!

Paperwhites

I went looking around the house for containers
 to plant some more paperwhites.

These blue and green glass jars are pretty.

Then I spied this old wooden box in the corner of the basement.

I can't quite remember where it came from.
Maybe it was always here...after all...
...this home used to belong to Mr. Flea's grandmother.

In any case, it will be perfect as a container
for a mass of pretty paperwhites.

Taking it a bit easy today...
...recovering from too much delicious Thanksgiving Day food!

Once again, we spent the afternoon and evening
with my sister MaryBeth and family...
She outdid herself...and we stuffed ourselves with all sorts of Thanksgiving goodies.

She even baked me a special chocolate cake!

After dinner...we curled up all comfy to watch
 Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation.
We laughed as if we were seeing it for the first time!

I did get up early this morning
 to go to one...
...and only one...
Black Friday Sale.

Can you guess which store I scored at this morning?

hint: it's my favorite store!

A Few Raindrops

Into every life a few raindrops must fall...

But there is a certain joy and comfort to be found in the rain...

Grateful for the raindrops that replenish our dry earth...
...and grateful for the blessings that come with both the joys and sorrows of life...

Hope you are having a good week and that the sun is shining in your world!
Warm wishes from me...on the road!

Can't Help Feeling Blue

I know, I have been posting an awful lot of blue lately...

...especially blue glass...

...the light shining through blue glass...
evokes that summer feeling...

clear blue skies, crystal blue water...

heavenly blues...

Enjoying these summer days...
Hope you are too!
