It's that time of year.
...and the lilacs have just started to bloom here.
We are so lucky to have several types of lilacs on the property.
These white ones were once in Mr. Flea's grandmother's garden.
And these...
...these are my favorites...not quite ready though...another few days.
These were my mother's lilacs.
She called them Double French.
Hi Mom.
They're going to be outstanding this year.
Hope you're having a good week...
Lilac love to you...
:)
The most beautiful fragrance , so neat you have the same lilacs
ReplyDeleteMy mom's favorite flower as well...gave them to her every Mothers day.
ReplyDeleteWe have pale pink lilacs, they are blooming early at our home. Don't you just love the scent? Always such a wonderful way to greet springtime. Have a great rest of your week. -Al

ReplyDeleteThose are so beautiful... Unfortunately, it's a little too warm where I am to grow them . Lovely photos. Glad to have found your blog.
ReplyDeleteCiao,
Mary
Simply marvelous! Michael and I have always teased each other by saying that something smells like lilacs. The funny thing is that neither of us have ever seen a lilac, must less ever smelled one.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's funny to us!
Enjoy their beauty and fragrance.
Hugs, Susie
Both your lilacs and your photos are just gorgeous. Mine are still little buds and I only have two different shades of purple...wish I had white ones. I love them no matter the color though:-)

Brought tears to my eyes. My mother's favorite, too, and Dad gave her many of them when they were courting. They are both in heaven now, but I remember with love all her stories of getting bouquets of lilacs from Dad.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I want some white lilacs. Lilac love back to you!
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty!!! Nothing beats their tremendous fragrance! Our are blooming, too, and I'm in heaven! :)

Love, love lilacs! Mine in the northwest will be blooming the next time the sun comes out. Hope it is soon.
ReplyDeleteYour lilacs are lovely! We have a few planted but they have yet to grow enough to really bloom. Besides, we still have tulips coming into bloom...we are a little behind!

laura-one of my most favorite fragrances~I too have a beautiful lilac tree that stood in my grandmothers yard. It brings me so much happiness & nostalgia. have a wonderful weekend! :) chris
ReplyDeleteMmmmm... I can smell them from here :)They're beautiful~
ReplyDeleteHave you been to the Lilac Festival in Rochester? We have 9-10 different varieties around our yard... I was able to purchase three diff. little sprouts in paper cups from the show years ago. They were given Russian names~ each little blossom has layers and layers... They blend well with plants that I started from my "Moms beauty" in Litchfield, NY~ "Uncle Karl's" from the Cooperstown, NY area...
LOVED your post~ we name ours, too :)Hope you weekend is perfect :)
Green. Green with envy. I'm dying for some pretty posies. Lilacs were my Mum's favorites so I always think of her when I get a whiff of that lovely lilac scent.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend!
Blessings,
Spencer
