Found a Gold Metal Box at the Flea

This little gold metal box was a recent find at the flea market.
I have a small collection of these small jewelry boxes...
...three or four.
Maybe five now.

Anyway...I love the pale blue silk lining.

It is developing a bit of patina...
(Dad would call it corrosion.)

I wonder whose bureau this used to sit on?
I wonder what treasures it once held...

Drinking in the blue sky, soaking up the sunshine...
The rain is coming in tonight...
...we need the rain.
And I, for one...am hoping there's so much rain
that all the pollen is washed away!
ah-choo!

Rain or shine...
wherever you are...
enjoy the rest of your weekend!
:)

I always feel the same way...
When I bring something "new" home...
I always wonder where it had been before...
who owned it...
why did they give it away...
Lovely post as usual...

Cheers
Linda :o)

Beautiful box!! And I love the picture of the white lilacs against the blue sky. We finally had a beautiful day today and tomorrow could reach 80. Maybe some of our plants will start to bloom!! Rain again on Wed.

Just four or five?
Love the little jewel casket with the delicate signs of aging...or as we romantics would say gentle wear as the box was fondled by quivering hands as she opened the lid to gaze upon the gift received from her beloved...
Enjoy your Sunday.

That little box is adorable. The blue silk lining is beautiful. I often wonder the same things as I find these treasures ~ I think that is the reason we junk. We wonder what stories they could tell ;-)

Pretty little box.
Dads, eh? After I'd painted all the tongue and groove in my breakfast room my dad, in all innocence, asked 'that's the undercoat, is it?'

A beautiful box and also a great question to ponder "where did it sit, what did it contain"

Have a glorious week

Love the box...I also have collected several of these and was once told they were candy boxes, chocolates maybe, and date back to the end of WWll. I'm not sure with the satin liner but it is a nice thought! Thanks for sharing!

You bring back memories. My grandmother had one that was very similar. I will have to poke around my mother's things to see if I still have it.
