What do these pillows say?
They say I am loved.
Sister Lynn found these while out and about
and when I arrived at Dad's house in Florida...
There they were...
...waiting for me in my bedroom.
...And then there was this too!
A vintage heavy wooden shoe last
that Mr. Flea's parents found at Goodwill for me!
And look at this....
...a number impressed on the side...
5234!
Beside my special number 52...
...a 34...
which just happens to have been my all time favorite age (so far).
At 34, I had finally had my two babies...
and it had taken us so very, very long to start our family.
Dan was 3 and Kate was 1 at that point.
And I was very, very happy!
...and we were both still slim!
Do you have any particular age that you remember
as being spectacular?
I know, I know...
"What is the best age to be?"
The age you are!
What was YOUR favorite age?
...so far!
Perhaps, the best is yet to come!
:)
Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful and thoughtful gifts!!! I had a hard time having my babies too. My husband and I finally had our first after 10 years of trying. I was 30 with my first and almost 35 with my second, so I think these 2 years were definitely my favorites! They are my little miracles!!
Love your photos, you have such a beautiful family!
Have a lovely day Laura.
Sincerely,
Melinda
Laura, These presents are so special, with the love & meaning behind them!
ReplyDeleteI will say 35 the year I met my late husband. However, yes the best is yet to come! Absolutely!

Oh I love the pillows, so sweet of your sister!
ReplyDeleteThose are great pillows Laura and a sweet gift. Love the shoe last too. I'm looking for one or two of those.
ReplyDeleteLaura, what a nice surprise for you, great pillows, I just turned 50 and it's not so bad, But I will have to say 38 was my best year. Enjoy your vacation with your family
ReplyDeletePattie
What a great sister.
ReplyDeleteI know it's corny, but every year is always my favorite - something new, the kids grow older, more to look forward too.
~Bliss~
What wonderful thoughtful gifts!! Seriously every year is wonderful! I've been blessed even through there has been emotional turmoil!!
ReplyDeleteHow funny Laura, somebody else asked me the same question this week, and I found myself incapable of remembering a best age. But I think I'm with you, those years when the children are little are so precious.
ReplyDeleteLove your cushions, beautiful gift!

I have always wondered why 52 is your favorite number or at least, the name of your blog. Was it the year you were born? My favorite age is 14. Best year of my life. I try to keep the "kid" in me as I get older but old age has a very loud voice.
ReplyDeleteOk for one that "knows" what you look like you are still that girl! you look no different....except for that shag haircut. What great photos of all of you together.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes you are loved sweetie!!!!
have fun!

What great pillows Laura!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to get little unexpected gifts!
You look so cute and happy in your pictures! I would have to say that 32 was one of the best years for me. It was the year I met and married my husband~every year since has had memorable moments!
I hope you make some wonderful memories this year!
Donna
i have to tell you...i would never have imagined...but i am 55 and it's my favorite ...so far..

ReplyDeleteWhat thoughtful and perfect presents, Laura!!!
ReplyDeleteIn think 40 was my best year, believe it or not! Lots of good memories from that year.
XOXO,
Anne
You all looked so happy in the family picture
ReplyDeletelove the sister pillows
I don't know what my best age is or was. perhaps I wish I was 20 and knew what I know now. I would have been more adventurist
also I am so glad I can leave comments on your blog again
So far, every year gets better. So, I'm loving 49!! : )
ReplyDeleteI am happy with the age I'm at - the long slog is over & I think it's plain sailing ahead. Now it's time to relax & enjoy the fruits of the hard labour! Hi Laura~~ Love the pillows..... what a sweet sister. Besides having my kids in my 30's.. I really loved my early 20's. I was so much more relaxed. Enjoy your trip~

Aww, I love the pillows and that wooden shoe form with your favorite numbers, what sweet gifts! I love looking at photos of people when their kids were young, maybe because it reminds me of when my kids were that age. I would have to say that I have loved every age, each with its own pros and cons. But those years when my kids were little will always be special ones!
ReplyDeleteKat :)

Wow Laura, great post-love the story and photos. This is a perfect lesson for us all to have a little something special and personal waiting for our house guests. Thoughtful, charming and absolutely perfect!!! Tough act to follow but great inspiration! ~Jen
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous coincidence on the shoe last. The pillows ROCK! I think I loved 30 the most, probably...I had just squeeked under the mark I had set for myself to have both kids by (by a month), and was still young enough that they didn't wear me down (like they do now). Happy weekend, Laura...Tanya
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Laura!!!! What nice memories and beautiful pillows!
ReplyDeleteHappy week end and hugs to Lynn!
Vale
My favorite age was 20! That's 37 years ago :)
ReplyDeletewhat a thoughtful gift. I love the pic of your family. I have to say that last year, 44, was my favorite. I say that because I learned more that in any prior year. And I am happier as a result.
ReplyDeletehave a great day
MC
That must have been such a sweet surprise to see those pillows when you walked into the room. They're great. Sounds like you are having fun:) Thank you for your sweet comment about the magazine. I am hoping I am in it:) Have a great weekend. You do know it is supposed to snow here again don't you????

Ooohhh Laura I'm totally in love with those pillows!!!!They are just amazing!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
Well it wouldn't be my 30's because I was so busy raising children and being a pastor's wife, I don't remember them...and I am not kidding!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite age so far was in my early 40's. I think I really knew who I was, the kids were getting older and I had time to craft, and visit old friends...but really, I don't think I have a real favorite....they are good and some bad.....
How sweet of Lynn and your in-laws.
ReplyDeleteLaura, this is sooo you!
Now to the age....it is what you make of it, not the number....with me, there are too many good years to mention...and some bad ones too.I would like to be 35 again (I just picked a random number) and be at the place in my life, where I am now. So, no specific year actually stands out.
XOXO, Evi
Laura what a post to love!
ReplyDeleteTruly a real post with meaning :)
I was 3 months shy of 36 when I had my Hannah....A rocky road to fertility problems I think the
30's is a great time to plan a family :)
I really never gave a favorite year age much thought finding something favorite in each and every year :)
I love that your SISTER had the beautiful 52 waiting for you welcoming you to your room of stay, what passion she has for what makes you shine.
Have a wonderful weekend enjoy your number! Hmmm! you have planted a number in my head to as I will be thinking of favorite numbers for awhile not being able to get numbers out of my head :)
xoxo

Laura, this blog entry is so touching. So much love in your family! I put my son on the plane back to college today and the photo of you and your children brought many, many memories for me @ age 35. Perhaps the best is yet to come!!!!
ReplyDeleteAwe, What a sweet surprise!
ReplyDeleteShe pinned you perfectly!
xo,
Gail
Spells "love" to me. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYour Sister Lynn knows you all too well. What great pillows Laura! Tell your Sister can send me some.. Ha, Ha. Hope you are having a great time in Fla.

Wonderful gifts , and the ones of your two kids, the best ever :) You all looks so sweet Laura.
ReplyDeleteHugs,Dorthe
It was hard for me to have babies, too. I was 30 and 33 when mine were born. I think my best and most satisfying years were when they were little.
ReplyDeleteI love your new pillows ~ what a perfect gift! ::Jill
wonderful gifts enjoy i think the 30's were the best but like you said maybe the best is yet to come
ReplyDeleteWhat thoughtful gifts! I love them. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite age maybe 29 because I was 29 when I married my husband or 40 because that is when all of my dreams really started coming true.
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased to be your latest "follower"

Hi Laura, lovely, sentimental post.
ReplyDeleteI think my best year was my 50th.I felt like I had finally arrived in my mind and spirit. I felt I could finally venture off and do what I had dreamed of. I started my store that year and began to give back to my community in so many ways. So much came back to me, and I personally experienced tremendous growth. I always considered myself a late bloomer!! I still look ahead to doing so much and hopefully still learn every day,N.xo
