Delicate

This delicate net and lace dress came from The Rose Arbor,
the booth of  Vicki Potter on Butternut Hill
at the Madison Bouckville markets this year.

She thinks it is from the 1930's.

I wonder who it was that wore this lovely feminine creation?

Vicki tells me that it came from an estate north of Syracuse, N.Y.
It was the home of a famous doll maker and at the same time,
Vicki bought many beautiful laces, buttons and fabrics.

It would fit a tall, slim girl like my daughter Kate.
She would love it, I am sure.

So romantic!

For now, it hangs in the upstairs bedroom window at the lake...

It has been pouring rain here all day....
...a good day for baking, reading and napping.

Hope your Labor Day holiday has been restful...
...and if not...hope it was fun! :)

Hi Laura,
I hope that you are enjoying Labour Day. If it's any consolation, it has been raining here too.
I love the dress and would wear it now. I would have to think of something to wear underneath it though !!!! I'm sure that your Kate would look lovely in it. Just don't let her go out in it without a slip or something !!
Have a lovely day all of you. XXXX

your love for all things lace and romantic is so evident in your collections and pictures. looks very pretty hanging near the window.

we are also relaxing, baking and visiting w/loved ones on this rainy day. i am actually enjoying the down time and coolness of the air, however, not wanting to let go of summer quite yet!

So feminine and romantic! I can only imagine the beauty who must have worn this so long ago. That is one of the joys of owning vintage items...imagining the past life of the piece. ;)

Enjoy your baking, reading, and napping!

So beautiful, the contrast between the delicate lace and the scratch of the pines...

Oh I love that piece hanging in the tree makes it look so exquisite the delicate of the fabric versus the ruggedness of the tree. I love this. It would look beautiful on someone. B

sooo lovely! too bad we don't have such feminine and fragile lace detailed clothing these days. Although, I did spy some lacy tops at Eddie Bauer the other day which surprised me. I love the last two photos of the dress hanging and the crystals. SOOOO gorgeous!

I just inherited my MIL's wedding gown from 1946, I think I know what I will do with it now. Thanks for the idea.
