In between painting, visiting with my sister, pricing vintage goods
and trips to my little booth...
I have had a chance to flea a little.
I found this tall zinc farm item at The Red Barn.
See that little spout and the glass insert?
I love the wooden carrying handle.
It is perfect for holding a variety of things around here...
...maps, a collection of yardsticks, umbrellas, birch branches, etc.
I don't know what it was originally used for...
...I'm guessing milk or cream...
Do you know?
Also found...
Irresistible old photographs of babies and little girls...
When is it too many vintage photos?
(Never you mind, Mr. Flea)
This old shield shaped thing is covered in old brown velvet...
Was it a key holder or medal or ribbon display
from a Lodge or Club?
I tried it out with some of my favorite silver necklaces.
And lastly, I found this huge spool of lace at the thrift store
and this wee little doggie tape measure at Schoolhouse Treasures.
Actually, there was lots more...
...but there's always next time!
Hope you are having a good week!
:)

Love your finds! The pictures are so precious. When I see piles of pictures at flea markets, I wonder why no one in a family wanted to keep them. Glad you saved a few!
I really like that first piece. Not sure what it was used for, but, I have a passion for vintage metal. Looks great with the flowers.
Wow those are some great finds!
Maybe it was a sap bucket or something for maple syrup??? I love it!
I have a ton of lace and old tatting. Some is old and some is new...but I love it all.
We used to have some old pictures...and I think we sold them at the Antique Mall when we were moving. But they were cool.

Beautiful Laura!...love from me...xxx...
MMMm - I'm imagining the jewellery shield derobed of its velvet and redressed in distressed shades of white. You could put your collection of number tags on there too…

Love to you dear friend :)
Dear Laura,
I love all of your new finds.
Old photographs are a passion of mine. My sister and I have just sorted out all of the old photos that our parents had and shared them and, whenever I'm in a junk shop or antiques fair, I am always drawn to old photos.
Looking forward to seeing more Laura. XXXX
So much to like here but the doggy tape measure is pretty special, I havent seen one like that before ! xx Ava
I always love your found treasures Laura!!!! Each and every thing is wonderful....and that little tape measure is JUST PRECIOUS!! hugs and love, Dawn
Great finds! I'm thinking the zinc piece may have been a maple sap bucket that would be hung on a tree and the sap emptied out the bottom...?
Your finds are only outdone by your marvelous photographs!!
Hi Laura...I am loving that bucket!

I love the treasures u found. I don't know if anyone has commented on the jewlery find. It looks like an interstate sighn that was covered with the velvet. Very creative! I love the jewlery too! I think its so neat your dad is able to help creat things for you.
Blessings,
Aimee
You make Queen Anne's Lace so beautiful! We have it by the tons here in Oregon, too! And daisies. I'll bet you could make the Scotch Broom pretty, too! I don't mind Christmas early but I hate back to school early, unless we're talking vintage decorating school supplies! But I homeschool, so mine don't actually leave home either.
I think that shield thing looks like a mount for antlers?? Happy summer days to you!
Those of us who LOVE to collect will probably do so until the day we die. But then, what's life without simple pleasures like collecting?
Hopefully, you'll discover the original use for the zinc farm item. I love cows, so calling it a milking pail works for me. ;)
Blessings,

I love those necklaces. And congrats on finding that lace! There are so many wonderful things you can do with it!
OH, what wonderful finds. I especially love the little tape measure!!
that zinc "thingy" is wonderful and Queen Anne's lace is perfect for it. After the summer is gone, you will find many good uses for it.
I love the little dog tapemeasure. How sweet.
I had such a good time with you yesterday, alas, it was too short. I am petrified of all the new computer info you gave me, but will try to muddle through.
Too bad you missed lunch with the "sister act".
We had tons of fun.
Next Time!
Laura, thanks for all the help and my precious gifts.
Love it all, but most of all, I love you my friend.
Hugs, Evi
Love the 'whatever it is'!
Hello there and wow! Every time I pop over to browse your archive, I say to myself, 'what a lovely blog'. :)
I have just laughed out loud at your comment on the vintage baby photos and when is too many, too many? The 'Never you mind, Mr Flea' really made me chuckle!
There is a Mr Lella who enjoys coming to flea markets with me but laughs when he sees my granny shopper filled with vintage tea cups, enamel buckets and old scales. You know and I know, they love it really!
Keep up the delightful blogging.
Lella xx
The shield is shaped like an old sorority pin I used to have. Maybe for something greek?
