Flower Power

How is it that these beautiful blooms have so much influence over my mood?

Is it because they are so temporary...their beauty so fleeting?

Perhaps it's because they represent a new beginning...
...a time of re-birth and transition...
...and hope.

...and the sunshine...oh the sunshine!
That has more influence than anything on my spirits...

While cleaning out today, I found this sunny yellow silk piano shawl in an old suitcase in the attic.
I cannot remember now who it belonged to or how or when it came to be here.
I guess it doesn't really matter...

I hung it on the clothesline to let it air out...
... its colorful silk flowers still hold the power to make me smile!

:)

Laura, The dogwoods are so beautiful! And you are right, very fleeting. I feel the same way about so many spring flowers.
You captured them so perfectly in pictures for us.

Ahhh so much beauty!!! The sun shining has the most influence over my mood, but pretty flowers in bloom are a close second! If you get both than it's a great day :)

I have a wonderful update to share with all of you!

Last Wednesday, April the 28th's post showed some vintage silver forks used as garden markers. Several of us commented and asked where they could be found.

I immeadiately went to Etsy and found the most charming and creative store owner with fantastic customer service: CambriRae.etsy.com

Her prices are very affordable, her creativity is great, but it's her customer service that is amazing! I contacted her that same evening, before I went to bed I checked my email and she had already responded. I sent my payment the next morning, and within an hour, my lovely forks were in the mail to me! Let me tell you what she created for me: I chose all forks because I'm using them to hold photos! One large fork for each of my children, and a small salad fork for my precious grandson's picture - Each with their name hammered on the fork. They are SO beautiful! I "planted" each fork with a name, holding a photo (some color/some b&w) in a clay pot with small flowers - and THEN, decided to buy one more: a BIG serving spoon with the words, "Mami's garden". Can you picture it? By the way, our last name is FLORES ("flowers" in Spanish) How perfect is that?

I recommend this Etsy seller to all of you. She is a charming young woman. This will be my Mother's Day gift to myself!

Pretty flowers...and that scarf is gorgeous!
Yes, we have some new neighbors who have done nothing but irritate since they took possession of the house (dump?) next door. They "trimmed" my Mock Orange tree/bush. Now I see more of their house from my screen porch. Nice. I told my husband that we were no longer going to mow on that side of the house! Also...they cut down/tore out all of the shrubs trees in their front yard. So everyone in the neighborhood now has a view of their house. Yuck.
