Don't let the sunshine in this picture fool you....
It has been pouring all day....windy and just plain horrid outside...
Have you heard about this good cause?
Corinne at
Designing DNA had this wonderful idea and is hosting an online flea market to be held next weekend, March 20th and 21st. It is to benefit an organization called
Samaritan's Purse...which is still working to rebuild homes that were destroyed during Hurricane Katrina and the floods in Atlanta.
It sounds like it will be a fabulous event...lots of fun...click
here to find out more about it!
So I finally got to curl up with my copy of Jeanne D'Arc Living and spend an hour drooling over all the gorgeous images...
...
Thanks to Ruth at The Beautiful Life and Carole at Maynard Garden! If you haven't a copy of this wonderful publication you can get it from either of them or
Tracey at French Larkspur.
I think that there are extra copies in Danish that may even be on sale....I have been buying this magazine from the start...before they printed the text in English and have enjoyed it just as much with Danish text as it is the beautiful images that are so compelling!
I loved this article on old tins because, well... because I have lots of old tins...
...they seem to have come into their own here!
...and this faded blue dresser...well,
... it makes me weak in the knees!
Moving on to a few thrift store finds this past week...
...lots of vintage lace....
...so sweet, so delicate!
...and this heavy steel candle holder turned... egg stand?
...or maybe I could use it this way...
...
just kidding!...and this pretty blue green transferware dish...
...and this little carrot shaped sack of ivory beads...
...and that's all I have had time to photograph...
...did I mention that it is pouring rain outside...
ALL day long?
...and flooding?
At least it's not snow and this will surely wash the last of the snow away...
We saw the first two beautiful robins this morning...
...dancing around the yard in the rain...
Yes, spring is coming close!
Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead tonight!
:)

What a great cause. I will be out of town but will try to stop in (log on) next weekend. Hope it is a huge success. Hope you are enjoying life in the slow lane.

It's terrible here too! Fallen trees and power lines are all over our roads here. It's actually quite scary! I love the blue dresser. Oh what I could do with that!
It's rained a lot here, too, but it is melting all the snow quickly! Love all the beautiful photos- my favorite is the transferware dish!
...fabulous photo's!! Such lovely treasures, but my favorite is the robin blue egg! sweet simplicity. ~ even with the gloomy rain, you have made my heart sunny with your post:) xo

Hi there ~ I enjoyed your lovely post tonight! I am crazy in love with that faded blue chest also - it's just dreamy...
I also can never get or see enough lace - beautiful! Transferware is always beautiful and I don't see the green too often - sweet little dish - bone dish, do you think?
Cynthia K. (Beauty and Blessings)
Beautiful beautiful finds.
I can't see vintage lace without thinking of the movie Cranford by Elisabeth Gaskill. Have you seen it? It is delicious. (She was a peer of Jane Austen.)It would be a great movie for your next rainy weekend.
It has been rainy and gloomy here too...for days and days...
It is helping the snow melt down. We don't want it to melt tooo fast, or we'll be flooded for sure.
You found some wonderful treasures. I love the sweet little dish.
Take care ~Natalie
The transferware bone dish is just beautiful! I love the teal color...it's pretty rare and hard to find. The ivory beads are my second fave and the bag is adorable! Very pretty post! My blog is centered around transferware, so hope you'll come by and visit sometime! Love your blog (I'm a follower)!
Thanks for sharing
You found some great stuff while out thrifting. I'm always buying vintage lace pieces. I haven't done a lot with them but I guess I'll be ready when the inspiration strikes.
Thanks for the info. about the Flea Market Round-Up. I'll go check it out.

I adore Jeanne d'Arc Living, too. But I think your images and vignettes are at least as good if not better. I mean, the creative things you can do with candle holders ALONE rates you pretty high in my book! :-)
Have a wonderful Sunday!
Anne
I love Jean D Arc..Love all the blue..the eggs are darling..Happy Sunday! ~lulu
Ah yes this rain was awful but at least not snow...these beautiful things get my mind off doing taxes, yuck! Thanks for posting!
Hello dear Laura, I love the beautiful coloured eggs, this turqoise is so love. The magazine of JDL is also so beatiful, I can read it day by day, there is so much inspiration.

Those beads in the beautiful little bag, sigh, they are fabulous. What a find.
Laura, I always enjoy your beautiful pictures! The little crescent dish reminds me of a set I found at a moving sale, which remind me of Grandma who called them bone dishes for fish bones! I prefer to think of a nice buttery croisant with an old bone-handled knife resting on the edge...Pouring and flooding here too-Happy Sunday! Sherry
I woke up this morning to the birds singing:) Such a beautiful sound. All of your finds are wonderful, love the vintage lace and the gorgeous dish with the beads. Have a blessed day my friend.
Dear Laura,
you have an incomparable sense of colours!
And the things you show are so prettey again...The transferware dish is my favourite, but also the eggs, the laces, the golden pouch with the beads...
Warm regards
Iris
Dear Laura,
I have now found a place that sells Jeanne D'Arc in English over here...at last. I have a years subscription now !! I have had the last three and it is, without doubt, the best interiors magazine EVER...bar none...in the world !!!! I adore it.
Love your candlestick and maybe, when you have loads of guests, you COULD use it as an eggcup!!
... and, all of your fleamarket finds are so great.
Have a lovely Sunday, Laura. XXXX
Lovely finds,
The Transfer Bone dish is very pretty hope there was a set. I envy the ivory beads.
The lace is fun to put on finger towels.
yvonne
Hey Laura,
I was drooling over all the old tins they showed too. Almost bought a dresser like that the other day. I was coming back with more money but while I was there someone else bought it!!! boo hoo!
Those ivory beads are tdf! and you get a bag too!!! wow
Love everything and the way it's all displayed.
Have fun this week!!!
Thanks for the mention!!! got an other order last night!! woo hoo
xx...C
"The sun will come out tomorrow..." Laura you have the magic touch. I am so envious of the lace you find. All your lovely treasures! MMM...
I haven't been to a flea market for ages and even skipped my usual Saturday visit to the local flea market a lot of times because of the cold.
I can't wait to see what becomes of those ivory beads~ beautiful!
Bonjour Laura,
Sorry about all that rain but what cheerful images you have given us. The Flea Market for Samaritan's Purse sounds like a wonderful idea - isn't that Franklin Graham's, Billiy's son? I think that is one organisation you can feel confident about.
Love the pretty blue eggs and oh the vintage lace, my heart is beating faster.
Happy Sunday to you!
Great flea market finds. I think I found a similar transferware set of dishes at a flea market too!
I think we got the same rainstorm here that you have. It's been a horrible weekend weatherwise.
Ooh, I must pick up a copy of Jeanne D'Arc Living,
that magazine is fabulous!
Oh lovely!! I love the dresser!!
Hugs, Lisa
